Tucked away amidst rolling hills, Conemaugh River Lake complements the tranquil rural countryside of southern Indiana County. Only a short drive from Pittsburgh, the project offers numerous recreational opportunities and historic resources to explore. Visitors will discover that Conemaugh's pleasant surroundings are an ideal setting for outdoor adventure or a quiet escape. Bursting with history, primary sites of interest include traces of The Pennsylvania Mainland Canal and sections of the 1864 and 1907 railroads. Conemaugh Dam is a favorite spot for my family. This year we hosted a Father’s Day celebration that included four generations. The youngest got to make the same kind of memories my sisters, cousins and I made. They loved the playground just feet from our pavilion, visited the dam structure, rode bikes, enjoyed picnic food in the pavilion, splashed in the water fountain (ha ha) and made a memory shirt. Grown ups did all of that and added in corn hole. It was a great day!

Pavilion was nice, been there forever and could definitely use some touch ups and care but worked for what we needed it for

The park was wonderful, very clean. Couldn't get the lock off the water pump the code didn't work. Other than that it was perfect

We have been having our family reunion here for many years. The park staff could not be more helpful and they check in with us to make sure everything is going as expected. We are extremely happy with the venue and look forward to being there for many more years!

From Pittsburgh (west), take I-376 E keep left and continue onto US-22 E (27 mi). Make a left at PA-981 N located in New Alexandria, PA near the Sheetz gas station (5 mi). Turn right onto Tunnelton Road/SR 3003 (3 mi). Turn right onto Auen Road (1...
From Pittsburgh (west), take I-376 E keep left and continue onto US-22 E (27 mi). Make a left at PA-981 N located in New Alexandria, PA near the Sheetz gas station (5 mi). Turn right onto Tunnelton Road/SR 3003 (3 mi). Turn right onto Auen Road (1 mi). The entrance is on the right.
From Blairsville (east), take Route 217 North to Newport Road. Turn left onto Newport Road. Travel 4 mi and turn left onto Clarksburg Road. Follow Clarksburg Road 2.8 mi to Y in road and bear left. Turn left onto Quick Road. Go 1/2 mi on Quick Road and turn left onto Auen Road. Follow Auen Road for 1.6 mi. The entrance is on your left.
From Indiana (north), take Route 286 W out of Indiana (10 mi). Turn left onto Saltsburg Road (SR 3002). Travel 5.6 mi and make a left onto Tunnelton Road (SR 3003). Follow Tunnelton Road for 2.3 mi and make a left onto Auen Road. Travel 1 mi and the entrance to Conemaugh is on the right.
From Latrobe (south), take Route 981 N thru New Alexandria (9.4 mi). At the intersection make a left to stay on 981 N. Travel 2 mi and turn right onto Tunnelton Road (SR 3003). Follow Tunnelton Road for 3 mi and turn right onto Auen Road (1 mi). The entrance is on the right.
Highway access
The campground has access to I-376 and US-22, located approximately 27 miles to the west. State Route 981 and Tunnelton Road (SR 3003) provide local access to the site.
Policies & Rules
General
- Driving off of the roadways to load or unload and parking in the grass is not permitted.
- Charcoal is not provided for the grills.
- Horseshoes and volleyballs can be loaned out to reserved pavilions when requested.
- Please wait until to set-up to allow time for scheduled maintenance and janitorial services.
- Pets must remain on a leash.
- Off-road vehicles are not permitted, i.e. dirt bikes, ATVs, etc.
- Horseback riding is prohibited on park property.
- Alcohol and fireworks are prohibited.
- Posting of personal signs, balloons, paper plates, etc., on park signs is not permitted. Personal signs may be placed on stakes or boxes at key intersections. Any personal signs placed must be removed at the end of your pavilion rental period.
- Title 36 of the Code of Federal Regulations governs the public use of Conemaugh Lake administered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. These regulations are posted throughout the Day Use Areas and are available at the park office. All visitors must follow the regulations for their safety and enjoyment.
