Pioneer Lakes

My family and I absolutely love this RV park! it’s such a special place. One of our favorite parts is the adorable animals, including a sweet Highland cow, pony, and goats you can pet. They have weekend activities planned with great amenities such as a dog park, mini golf, fishing, and even a food truck that serves delicious coffee. On top of all that, the staff is incredibly kind which makes the whole experience even better. We always look forward to coming back!

We just bought a seasonal site here. This place is amazing. Beautiful and the staff who work there are super kind and very helpful with everything. Very nice and clean campground. Surprisingly quiet. All sorts of amenities including a pool, splash pad, swings, volleyball, mini golf, fishing, kyaks and paddle boats. They have tennis and basketball courts, jump pad and a pavilion with bands every weekend. Ice cream, fillable propane tanks, even a build a bear workshop. This place has it all. The bathrooms houses are ok, nothing fancy, but they're clean. 3 of them on grounds. Hayrides. Their own Fire truck they drive their own mascot around and wave to the kids. Very family friendly place. We love it.

My family truly loves this camping park. It's beautiful, it has a lot of free activities for the family. It's always clean and lastly the staff is friendly and on top of things. It is a great place to bring the family!

Sheri was an amazing camp staff member. We saw her daily on our week+ stay and she was always friendly while doing her many jobs.
The campground on the other hand could use some work. The roads and sites are full of large holes and mud ruts. The sites are also close.

My family has been camping at Pioneer Lakes for the past 13 years, the vast majority of that time under the previous owners (Pioneer Park). During those 13 years, we never had a single issue. It was one of our favorite places to camp, and we made countless memories here. Unfortunately, under the new ownership, this campground has become a completely different place, and not in a good way.

This isn’t just our opinion. We know multiple families who camped here in large groups for years and have also decided they’ll never return because of how they’ve been treated under the new ownership. Even a local school that held its end-of-year camping event here for many years no longer comes back after its experience with the current management. When longtime customers and organizations stop returning, that says a lot.
Our weekend started on the wrong foot before we had even settled in. Members of our group were overcharged. When we questioned the charges, the staff member admitted that the employee responsible had been fired for stealing from customers. We were reimbursed, but hearing that an employee had been stealing from guests is not exactly the way anyone expects to begin a family vacation. It immediately destroyed any confidence we had in the campground’s management. Unfortunately, things only got worse.
Instead of creating a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere, it felt like management was looking for reasons to target our group. Staff followed our children around the campground while they rode their e-bikes, taking pictures and videos of them without our knowledge or consent. Camping should be about relaxing and making memories, not feeling like your family is under constant surveillance. The irony is that they claimed they didn’t have enough staff to keep amenities open, yet there always seemed to be enough employees available to follow our group around all weekend. The pool bathrooms were locked, forcing guests to use two dirty, unsanitary portable toilets instead.
The final straw came when we were kicked out because five children were riding on a golf cart that was being driven responsibly by an adult. Two of those children were toddlers. Rather than speaking with us like reasonable people or using common sense, management immediately resorted to the most extreme response possible. Yet see the picture I have attached that shows staff driving around with more than 4 people on a gulf cart- that the lady wearing the pirate hat specially screamed at me stated on the gulf cart rule sheet “‘no more than four people!”

To make matters even more uncomfortable, the camper behind our site, who appeared to have a close relationship with management, was recording our campsite with a Blink camera (see picture attached). Between campground staff recording our children and another camper recording our site, it felt less like a campground and more like we were being watched from every angle. Not to mention that multiple of the campers there were drinking all night, riding their golf carts drinking and a party of adult whom knew these employees walking around half naked at night as well.

Let’s not mention the poor maintenance of the playgrounds- prickly weeds, old wood, literal garbage laying in the sand of the playground…
I’ve read multiple reviews from other people who also had issues with being charged more when sites were already paid in full and experiencing the staff following them around talking about them on their walkie talkies.

It’s heartbreaking to see what this campground has become. A place that was once known for families, children riding bikes, and making lifelong memories has turned into a place where longtime customers feel unwelcome and scrutinized.
If you’re looking for a campground where families are welcomed instead of watched, where management values its customers instead of policing them, and where you can actually relax on your vacation, keep driving. There are other campgrounds nearby that truly understand what family camping is supposed to be. Do yourself a favor and do not go here!
