What Guests Are Saying
Buck Hall Recreation Area is praised for its beautiful location along the Inter-Coastal Waterway, spacious and level sites, and friendly camp hosts who maintain a clean environment. Many visitors enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the variety of nearby activities. However, some reviews mention the need for updates to the bathroom facilities and occasional issues with bugs and electrical hookups. Overall, it's regarded as a hidden gem, perfect for nature lovers.

The restroom/showers here were the worst we have ever encountered as far as cleanliness. The doors were left propped open and as a result were heavily infested with mosquitoes. Animal feces of varying types was present on the floor and counter top. What appeared to be human feces was smeared on one wall. After seeing someone "clean" the restrooms I checked and saw little difference. Swatting and trying to avoid the mosquitoes engorged with others blood was one of the least pleasant things in memory.

Beautiful spot on the costal waterways!
Unfortunately both of my sites were currently occupied upon our arrival late afternoon. The camp host was wonderful and mitigated the situation quickly and professionally.
My only complaint is the lack of showers. One shower in each bathroom for a campsite without sewer hookups is troubling. Many campers waiting in line for the shower.

The best well kept park I have been to. Loved watching the big boats come by. There was always a nice breeze there. Would most definitely stay there again. It was a beautiful grassy area and kept mowed.

Buck Hall is a beautiful peaceful place right on the intracoastal waterway. We enjoyed the lunar eclipse over the water on our last night. Love that the sites are spacious and are paved. We stayed in Site #7 in a 25ft travel trailer. There was plenty of room for both the trailer and pickup truck on the paved pad. Received local channels over the air and good cell phone service Verizon and AT&T Restrooms are dated but clean except for the insects that enter. There is no a/c in the bathhouse so the doors are left open 24/7.
Places we visited are Hopswee Plantation, Hampton Plantation, Birds of Prey in Awendaw, Palmetto Trail for a hike (trail entrance by campsite #3 and the picnic area), Old Santee Canal Park in Berkley county.
