Buck Hall Recreation Area is praised for its beautiful location along the Inter-Coastal Waterway, spacious and level sites, and friendly camp hosts who maintain a clean environment. Many visitors enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the variety of nearby activities. However, some reviews mention the need for updates to the bathroom facilities and occasional issues with bugs and electrical hookups. We camped in a motorhome on Site 2 the last weekend of February 2021. I had never been to Buck Hall before and for some reason - maybe because it was in the national forest - I had expected a bare bones camping experience, possibly in an open field with electricity and little else. But I was wrong! It is a truly beautiful campground. There were trees for shade, plenty of elbow room between the campsites, cement parking pads, solid picnic tables, fire ring, and electrical and water hookups that were user-friendly and well-maintained. In fact everything in the campground was trimmed, clean, and well-maintained. We met the camp hosts and saw them at work several times during our stay. The park has a wonderful view of the intracoastal waterway with benches along the sea wall to sit and enjoy the view. Enough boating activity to be interesting to watch, but the boat landing itself was far enough away for any noise from that direction to be negligible. Traffic noise from Highway 7 was barely noticeable as well. It was a very relaxing weekend for the two of us. We definitely look forward to coming back in the future.

This was our first time to Buck Hall. The campground is nicely set-up, with plenty of space between sites.
Very clean. Will definitely keep this campground on our "go back again" list.

Camping was fine. However, the experience of booking it was bad. It never gave me the discount option so had to pay full price!!! I would like a credit so I can book another. Thanks

Peaceful, beautiful, and quiet. Clean and large sites. Did not use bath house but was well located. Dump was very convenient.

I love this camping spot. The sites are on tar so they, reduce dirt and are move stable. The sites are huge! The ICW is right there as is the boat ramp. Quiet with wild life. The only negatives are: The restrooms are not very nice and there can be lots of bugs at certain times of the year.

I visited in winter following a TON of rain. I don't have a boat, so basically there was little for me to do. Having said that the RV sites were well spaced, level and the facility is well kept. The bath house was very "basic" and cold but adequate (certainly wouldn't have taken a shower...no heat, both doors propped open etc).
But overall I had a good 3 night visit. Think it would have been better in better weather but the RV sites are in good condition. I would stay there again.

Having hiked the western end of the Palmetto Trail, it was nice to explore the eastern end. It was an enjoyable hike.
