Fort Welikit Family Campground

Very family friendly and well maintained campground. From tents to large RVs, all sites are nicely tucked under the trees. Exceptionally large & safe playground for our grandkids, we stayed here 4 days, definitely will return. Well stocked store and very well maintained restrooms and laundry area. Gave 4 stars for rooms because we stayed in campground spot, not the cabins.

TENT CAMPERS! Found this place and love it. The staff are really friendly, the grounds are well-maintained, bathrooms are clean. Feels like a family owned business and most of all it was BEAUTIFUL AND QUIET!!! 👍🏻 Would absolutely come again if I'm in this neck if the woods. Ask for tent site #5! Close to Custer and Rushmore

We stayed for a week October 2025. Our truck broke down on the way, we were not sure if we had to cancel. The owner was extremely accommodating and fair. This campground is perfect. Mature trees and flat spots. Uber clean private shower bathrooms. We rode electric bikes, close to downtown Custer and the Michelson trail goes as long as you can. Close to the popular tourist spots. Bike ride into downtown Custer with eating spots and grocery store. Owners are engaged and work hard to keep it clean. He’s also a Vet- so many thanks for his service to our country. We will be back for sure.

This is my second time here in the same spot. The bathrooms are clean and staff is friendly. The crowd is quiet and respectful. There is laundry on site, firewood for sale, and I believe they sell propane. The wildlife is everywhere. I have had deer, turkey, and rabbit within 50 feet. Awesome place!

We stayed for a week and had a great experience! Nice clean/quiet campground and friendly staff. The bath/shower house was very clean, full hookups , and we had a nice shaded spot for our 37ft 5th wheel. Would definitely stay again when we come back to the area.
