About Cook Lake Rec Area

Situated in a heavily forested area adjacent to Cook Lake, this campground is a peaceful setting for guests seeking recreation and relaxation in the Black Hills National Forest in Wyoming. Some sites in the campground are widely spaced and open up to views overlooking the lake, and others sit snugly along a hillside. Separation, rather than vegetation, provide visitors with a sense of privacy. Tall mature trees and grass underbrush give the campground a groomed character.

The campsite was clean and well maintained. Vault toilets were also in very good condition. The views are spectacular. Cook lake and the trails are wonderful. FYI to future new campers, there is a pump for water at the host station. Very peaceful, 5 stars!!

Don’t go in late summer the vegetation growth makes it dangerous to swim, in early spring it would be awesome

We had a great time there. We have a 36 ft fifth wheel that fit in nicely in lot 33. We went on a hike. It was very challenging for someone who is older, but there was so much vegetation to see and animals here and there. We had fun just hanging out with our friends.
