This was a clean, beautiful campground.
I rolled in when it was almost dark and knew that I was going to leave pretty soon in the morning, so I did not get to explore a lot. The camp host was super helpful and let me switch to a pull through spot. The bathrooms and showers were very clean.
It is close to a town with convenient grocery stores and other facilities

We had a very nice stay. We loved the spot we were in and will definitely try to get that spot again when we go to Cottonwood.

Cottonwood Campground is located just below the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton SD on the Missouri River. While on the smaller side (compared to other campgrounds in the area that are operated by the State of South Dakota) the rates are more reasonable and, considering the outstanding views, are well worth the effort to book. The restrooms are clean and the camp hosts are professional and cordial.

Facilities extremely clean. Campsites and park areas well cared for. Great fishing near campsites, you don’t have to go far to catch.

Get your water left at the dump station just as you turn onto toe road. Easy ride in and around the CG. Best showers so far with nice pressure and hot water, restroom very clean
