Cottonwood Campground is consistently praised for its beautiful scenery, cleanliness, and friendly atmosphere. Recent upgrades, such as concrete pads and improved facilities, have enhanced the camping experience, along with the quiet surroundings and ample shade. While some visitors noted minor concerns like the lack of full hookups and the need for trimming trees, overall, campers enjoyed their stays and appreciated the well-kept amenities and peaceful environment.

Cottonwood campground is a gem. The facilities are modern, well maintained, and harmonious with the environmenrt. Lake Yankton abuts the campground. It is on the downstream side of the Missouri River Gavin'sa Point dam which contains the huge Lewis & Clark Lake, but Lake Yankton is very small and easily accessible by campers. Lake Yankton is also a great little fishery. Internal combusion watercraft are excluded, so it is very quiet. Waterfowl abound and fisherpersons are often rewarded with lots of action. The campground is usually very quiet and guests are mostly respectful of their neighbors.

Cottonwood is a clean well taken care of campground. There are miles of bike trails, fishing is good and if you have a kayak Lake Yankton is a peaceful place to tootle around. We will be going back.

The light in the men’s shower house was blinking. It needs to be replaced. Shower house on the south end of the grounds.
