Cottonwood Campground is consistently praised for its beautiful scenery, cleanliness, and friendly atmosphere. Recent upgrades, such as concrete pads and improved facilities, have enhanced the camping experience, along with the quiet surroundings and ample shade. While some visitors noted minor concerns like the lack of full hookups and the need for trimming trees, overall, campers enjoyed their stays and appreciated the well-kept amenities and peaceful environment.

Arrived a day early, tried to get online with my phone to pay for the extra nite, was told a thirty minute wait to talk to a human, tried to pay the camp host, they wouldn't take my money, tried to pay the park ranger, same thing. Finally got online late in evening and paid for my space. A motorcyclist came in and camped across from me, he had the same trouble, after many tries, I told the camp host he could stay with me. They asked me if it was OK, I said yes. He had rode from Columbia all the way to Sturgis on his bike, 10K miles. He was a great young man, a professional engineer, we had a great time for the one evening we were there.

Cottonwood is a wonderfully green, quiet little campground. Lots of mature trees for good shade. Lake Yankton is beautiful and very laid back. We love the atmosphere.

Nice camping spots! Level pads and the gravel fire pit area was great! Very pretty campground right next to lake Yankton!
