We had nice time here! The trail to the Whitewater Center is great for a causal walk/hike. It would be a perfect campground for a base camp for rafting/kayaking the Ocoee River. There are also fantastic mountain biking trials via the Tanasi trail system that’s accessible from the Whitewater. Center.
The campground loop is gravel over old pavement. It’s good for kids with bikes, but wouldn’t be good for scooters/training wheels.

Nice place to visit in late fall. Not busy and you have the place to yourself. Always clean and well kept. Keep in mind there is NO cell service there so you are off the grid.

Nice campground and clean bathrooms. A little too much highway noise but the river and river sounds are beautiful.

Very nice to be along the river. Kind of noisy with car/truck traffic on main road across the river. Interesting to be by the dam. Nice hikes adjacent to campground.

Spectacular views and lots of places to explore in the Cherokee National Forest.
We checked out the Ocoee Whitewater Center, Mac Point Beach, Clemmers Trailhead, went whitewater rafting and floated down the river behind the campsite.
Would love to visit again and check out more of the many trails in the area.

From the Ocoee Ranger Station, turn left onto Highway 64 eastbound and travel 10.9 miles to the TVA Ocoee Powerhouse Number 3. Turn right and cross the bridge to reach the campground on the right.
Thunder Rock Campground is accessed via Highway 64, which connects to other major roads in the region.

Policies & Rules
General
- RV's, trailers, and pop-ups greater than 20 feet in legth are NOT allowed at this faciltiy because of maneuverability restrictions. Only site 9 has electricity.
- Campfires are permitted in grills only
- Do not leave fires unattended, they will be extinguished
- Pets must be on a leash
- Discharging firearms and fireworks is prohibited
- No swimming allowed
- Alcoholic beverages are prohibited
- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit www.dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
- Be Bear Wise: Never leave food out on tables or in the open. Store unattended food in bear-resistant containers, in a vehicle in solid non-pliable material, or suspend food at least ten feet off the ground. Remember to use the bear resistant trash receptacles provided at this facility.
