About Defeated Creek Park

Defeated Creek Park Campground sits along the banks of Cordell Hull Lake on the Cumberland River System, just seven miles from Carthage, Tennessee. The lake was named after Cordell Hull, a politician that was born in the foothills of the Cumberland Mountains. Defeated Creek is our favorite campground. We try to go there at least once a year. The grounds are well kept and the sites are as well. We were in site 91, which was plenty big enough for our 36’ camper and our truck with room to spare. For a campground with 150 or so sites, it is very quiet. We didn’t use the bathhouses, so no comments on those. Just be aware if you have the America the Beautiful Senior Pass, they will ask for it and your drivers license.

Defeated Creek COE campground was outstanding. Beautiful setting, scenery, quiet and peaceful. Campground was neat and clean. No cell or internet was exactly what we needed to disconnect from the outside world. We have put this campground on our must return list.
We had site 90 which might be tough for larger rv's. We stayed in a 25 foot Class-C which handled the incline just fine.
Overall great campground, great scenery and clean park.
