About Appalachian Clubhouse

The Appalachian Clubhouse is a historic building constructed in 1934 in the Elkmont Historic District. The structure has been rehabilitated by the National Park Service to closely resemble its 1930's appearance, with the addition of few modern amenities such as electricity and running water. The building was originally used a gathering spot by lessees and guests of the Appalachian Club whose members, mostly from Knoxville, built rustic cabins nearby to serve as weekend or summer retreats in the years before the Park was created. Today the 3,000 square foot clubhouse provides an excellent location for meetings, events and celebrations with the added charm of exposed wooden beams and massive stone fireplaces at each end, equipped with gas logs.

The Appalachian Clubhouse was the perfect venue for our father's birthday party. There was plenty of room and the availability of tables and chairs on site was perfect. The park staff were incredibly helpful, also. From getting us settled, to checking in, to helping clean up.

I would recommend using the Appalachian Clubhouse to anyone.

I had our wedding reception here and it was great! My only negative review would be that there is no heat. A cold front came through the weekend of my wedding so even with the fireplaces going it was quite cold inside. Other than that it was great! No cell reception here so definitely make sure to pre arrange transportation for guests if using the space for weddings. We rented shuttles for our guests. The space is so cozy and rustic, it was perfect for our intimate mountain wedding.

What an amazing place to have a celebration. We had our wedding ceremony at Spence Cabin and our reception at Appalachian Club House. It was beautiful and everyone was so helpful when it came to answering my questions. We couldnt have asked for a more perfect setting to have our wedding. All of our guests kept going on and on about how incredible everything was there. Thank you again to all of the park rangers for their help.

Despite the fact that the restrooms were out of service and it was hot and humid, this was a great space for a wedding reception. They even delivered fresh port-a-potties in the morning. The porch area remained cool but inside was a bit stifling in the afternoon. Even at full speed the ceiling fans offered little relief. And yet we had a great time. Spence Cabin is much cooler thanks to the breezes coming off the river.
