What Guests Are Saying
Rock Creek Recreation Area is highly praised for its peaceful and spacious campsites, excellent amenities like electricity, and access to beautiful hiking and biking trails. Many visitors enjoyed the clean facilities, friendly campground hosts, and the scenic wooded surroundings. While some noted minor issues such as limited water flow at spigots and lack of phone service, these were overshadowed by the overall positive experiences and the intention to return.

We camped here in our 15' teardrop camper. This campground seems like one that is bypassed by most people. It is a nice campground, great hosts that stopped & introduced themselves. The facilities were clean, however the mens shower closest to us was out of order & was being worked on by a plunber the 3 days we were there. I think they completed the repairs the day we left.
I did the 2 mile hike to the falls. Well worth the elavation gain to go to the upper falls. If it had been a warmer day I would have sat in the water below the fall & cooled off. Maybe next time.

Rock Creek is a beautiful campground with an excellent location close to Erwin and not too far to Johnson City. The sites are spacious for the most part and the trail leading to the falls is great. That said, the caretaking of the bathhouse and grounds was far below par. Especially the men's facilities, they were filthy. We came into our site to find the firepit with several pieces of trash, including cans. There were multiple holes dug around the site, apparently by a dog, and the table bench was covered with sand. It's a shame that the camp hosts don't do the job they were hired for. I feel really sad to give this poor review to what could be a lovely park.
