About Rock Creek Recreation Area (Cherokee National Forest, TN)

Rock Creek Recreation Area is named for the small creek that runs alongside this recreation site. The facilities, creek-fed concrete pond and bathhouse were originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the early 1930s. It is located just outside the town of Erwin, TN at an elevation of 2.3 ft - a welcome respite from the summer heat. Be Bear Wise: Food storage compliance is strictly enforced. Store all food and trash in hard-sided containers and vehicles while not in use. Never have attractants in your tent. Violations of the food storage order are ticketable offenses and subject to fines. Food and trash left unattended will be impounded by campground staff.

Campsites were spacious and well shaded. Bathrooms were nice. Rock Creek falls was my favorite hike of the 6 different waterfall hikes we did in the area. Make sure you keep going once you start seeing small falls, as the main falls is spectacular and we almost stopped too early when we started seeing smaller falls.

We love this campground and have camped here for many years.
It is beautiful. Nice spacious, private campsites. But it has changed in the past few years.
The water spigot near our campsite did not work and neither did the one in the tent site area.
Made it very difficult to get water.
We camped there in October of last year and they were working on that same spigot. Still not fixed!
The fire ring was full of ash. The bath houses were not clean.
Sad to see such a beautiful campground go unattended and uncared for.
