About Rock Creek Recreation Area (Cherokee National Forest, TN)

Rock Creek Recreation Area is named for the small creek that runs alongside this recreation site. The facilities, creek-fed concrete pond and bathhouse were originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the early 1930s. It is located just outside the town of Erwin, TN at an elevation of 2.3 ft - a welcome respite from the summer heat. Be Bear Wise: Food storage compliance is strictly enforced. Store all food and trash in hard-sided containers and vehicles while not in use. Never have attractants in your tent. Violations of the food storage order are ticketable offenses and subject to fines. Food and trash left unattended will be impounded by campground staff.

Beautiful campground, very secluded. Lots of privacy between sites. Nice to have electric service in such a remote location. Good trail along the creek to a waterfall. Camp host not there first few days so bath house and sites were unkept when I arrived but then host in site 2 arrived and got things in order quickly.

Loudest music I’d ever heard in a public campground and dogs left alone at the site next door wanted off leash and attacked those of passerby’s. What is the world is wrong with people? USFS staff were receptive and understanding, and working hard to keep the place up and running. Be sure to thank them.

had a grea time with my church family during this weekend. The only downside is that the water levels are nowhere near where they used to be, and that took away from the beauftufaction of the campground

campsite was level and clean, restroom looked clean . host did not seem to be on site , saw rangers in camp area which was good , site length restrictions could be advertised because the entrance to sites are not angled too much . multiple sites for family group of 3 or more should be directed to group camping ,dump station didnt work and there was no one to notify

Level, graveled, spacious campsite...warm showers and bathroom were very short walk from our site...we didnt have time for the hike to the falls but did walk to the concrete pond. Great how they have it set up with sand on one side like you were on the beach! Would definitely camp there again!
