What Guests Are Saying
Poole Knobs is a beautiful and clean campground with friendly hosts and great lake views, making it a favorite for many campers. While some sites are uneven and require leveling, the peaceful atmosphere and proximity to Nashville add to its appeal. The campground offers a variety of amenities, though improvements to bathhouse access and site leveling are suggested by some visitors.

Camp site 34 is extremely unlevel! It is horrible for an RV or camper! Way too unlevel! And Summer being prime time on the lake, why does Poole’s Knob boat landing parking lot have lake buoys IN THEIR PARKING LOT? ? The boat landing pavement still has massive holes that needs fixed! The host couples are awesome! So kind & friendly!

Poole Knobs Campground has been around for many years. A hidden gem as far as lakeside campgrounds go. Some campsites are right on the water, and many are nicely shaded. If you need a padded side, there are only 2 (30 & 32) and they are usually booked. In 2022, they did a lot of cleaning up and tree trimming. Looks much better! My main complaint is that Poole Knobs now has a 12 noon check out time. I don’t know any campground who does this! I emailed one of the park rangers and she claimed it was necessary in order to have sites ready for the next occupant. I strongly disagree. We’ve been camping there for almost 20 years and our site has always been clean and ready. Very few RV campers leave a mess. I just think the clean up crew decided to complain and found a way to give themselves more time for no reason! I’ve watched them clean the sites and it literally takes them 5-10 minutes each. They clean out the fire pit and grill (if necessary) and that’s it. I’ve talked to a lot of people who camp there, and I have not found one person who said their campsite wasn’t ready when check out time was 2pm! I don’t understand why the “larger” campgrounds don’t seem to have this problem!? Some people check out very early, so it’s not like all the people leave at the same time…
My 2nd complaint is that this campground closes after September 30, and our county schools’ Fall Break is the following week! Poole Knobs would be completely full for that week and it should be OPEN! I’ve written letters to the state, but of course, nothing changes and one ever responds.

Great location, it would be nicer if the lots were a little more level.

We've been several times and plan on coming again. It's one of our favorite campgrounds. the spots are spacious and we love being on the water.

Loved the campground but hated the low trees that you have to travel under to get there. They smack the top of my tall fifth wheel with no way of avoiding.

Great sunsets and fabulous site! The site we were in, 42, is not level. The key is to not pull in too far. This is a double site so lots of room.

This place is great! A little hilly but the views of the lake are amazing! The hike to the bathrooms from the lake area is taxing but you can drive your car to the top and park at the top which makes it easier to get to the restrooms. Definitely plan to come back and spend a little more time. Looks like it’s about 42 minutes to Nashville.

I liked the easy check in and the site was shaded. Great service when making the reservation.
