Wonderful campsites, spaced out with mature shade trees, nice level pads with tables and fire ring. The stanchions for the horses were excellent. The trails were especially nice and well groomed. We will definitely be back!

This place is very nice. Even though we do not have horses it was nice to see them around us. It was quiet and everyone was respectful. The restrooms were always stocked and the showers were pretty clean. The trails around this area are wonderful to walk. Spray yourself when walking all the trails because there are ticks. Only thing is make sure to bring bug spray. When the place emptied out we had a lot of flying knats around us. Not sure but I guess with the horses gone they only had us to bother. But if you are looking for a real forest area this is the place. Very remote and private. Lot sizes big and set up to give you some privacy. This is REAL camping at its finest!!

Site itself was very nice and large and level. Bathhouse was clean. PLEASE UPGRADE YOUR HORSE STALLS! The metal stantions on concrete are terrible! Horses cannot move, laydown, and standing on concrete is very hard on them especially after riding. TRAILS: If part of your horse trails are closed, TAKE THE TIME TO MARK IT CLOSED. We ended up on the hiking trail due to part of the horse trail being closed but not marked so. One rider was rolled by her horse crossing the foot bridge, another was pinned under his horse when it tried to go up the hill with loose dirt. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt and the horses were not injured. It easily could have been serious and possibly fatal. The park rangers could have also made the trails more passable around the deep mud bogs in the middle of the trail by opening up some side paths around them. It would not have hurt the overall environment, rather, would have helped and maybe allowe the mud bogs to dry up. Mud was deep up to the shoulders at one point.. no excuse for that. This also presents a danger. Not as fun as expected. Disappointing to say the least. Park Rangers weren't even present but for a few times over 3 days. Date: May 17-20, 2021. Doubt any of us would be back.

Many of the stalls are broken down and not working. There is NO maintenance being done of the campground OR the trails. Muck and mud all over the place - Shoe sucking mud. One of the people in my group was cited by the park rangers for moving her campsite to one that wasn't as broken down and would actually hold her horses. This was after an attempt to contact them on a Sunday. Nobody was available. It seems they can stroll thru camp multiple times per day looking for places to cite folks but can't be bothered to actually fix anything. POOR MANAGEMENT. We have been told for over a year they play to replace the stock type tie in stalls. They are using that promise as an excuse not to repair the failing ones in camp. One has a huge broken and dented space where a tree fell on it. My other friend had to use that spot! Replace them or fix the broken ones!

Food storage lockers each measure approximately 29" deep x 38" wide x 43" tall. --Wipe off picnic tables and grills. Properly discard aluminum foil used for cooking. --Avoid burning garbage in fire rings because it will leave behind grease and food scraps. --Always discard all garbage in wildlife proof trash cans or dumpsters. Keep a clean campsite. --Do not hang garbage from lantern poles. Following these guidelines will keep you from getting your property confiscated from your campsite. We appreciate your cooperation.
- Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters. This rule is strictly enforced!

Firewood which bears a USDA or a state certificate is allowed. The National Park Service STRONGLY discourages the movement of firewood from one location to another. Help protect the park and chose to bring only heat-treated wood on your next visit!
- Any group larger than 25 persons wishing to participate in any activity in the park in which members of the group will depart from an established road and/or parking area must first obtain a permit for such activity.
