Got there during the week, not a weekend, and had a lovely campsite. Not too many there so was quiet. Nice walking with my dog. Great bath house, clean and good shower. If you’re there at the full moon, don’t miss Columbia Falls at night. You could see a rare moonbow.

This quiet campground (at least when we were there) is well laid out and has everything you need (except sewer hookups). Being small, there is no bathroom wait and everything was clean.
Don't count on the wifi unless you want to stand by the bathrooms.
There is tons of great hiking right around the corner!
But, bring all your supplies. There really isn't a store within roughly 20-30 minutes and limited selection at best.
I would camp there again.

Had a wonderful time here due to it’s natural beauty. There is a historic coal mine place a few miles away which was a nice adventure itself. All facilities were clean and well taken care of, will stay here again in the future.

The weather was perfect for our stay and the campground was very nice. The bathhouse ran out of paper towels and there were lots of dead ladybugs on the counter but someone came by the next morning and fixed both issues. It would be nice if there was firewood available for purchase. We hiked the Blue Heron Loop starting at the mining community and really enjoyed it. We’ll definitely go back!

With Covid19 everyone was social distancing. The campground was very clean, and park maintenance was very nice in helping me with information and brochures. Easy calling using my disability access pass and accommodated my dog. Restrooms were very clean. It was good to get out and do some walking with my dog, and it's a very beautiful campground and was very peaceful. Oh, also the person who helped me book online was very patient, helpful, and a good experience when I called to make a reservation by phone. Thank you.

All sites had a “Reserved” sign on them but only about 30% had a camper on them. You only pay online and the phone service and WiFi was not good. Once we finally got online and signed up for Rec.gov we found out that 10 out of the 45 were actually open. Never been at a Federal campground where you couldn’t pay cash. The campground was very nice and clean

Only offer 30 amp power and there is no sewer hook-up on site, but there is a dump station. We knew this ahead of time but updating would be nice. There was no personnel of any card present during our 2 night stay and we had noisy neighbors on all sides until well into the evening every night. Wanted to camp in our new RV before winterizing it, so this trip was late for any "colors" and fairly chilly. We went for an 8.5 mile hike on the Blue Heron Loop, which was nice, but I think there is more to do and see at the Bandy Creek Campground, on the Tennessee end of the Big South Fork State Park. No reason to return.

General
- Black bears and other wildlife frequent this campground. Please keep in mind that “food” to a bear includes any item with a scent, regardless of packaging. This may consist of items that you do not consider food, such as canned goods, horse feed, bottles, drinks, soaps, cosmetics, toiletries, trash, ice chests (even when empty), and unwashed items used for preparing or eating meals. All these items must be stored properly. --Secure coolers, grills, cooking utensils, horse feed, any food not in use, and anything with food odors inside the locked compartment of a vehicle or trailer or a bear proof storage locker if available. Food storage lockers each measure approximately 29" deep x 38" wide x 43" tall. --Wipe off picnic tables and grills. Properly discard aluminum foil used for cooking. --Avoid burning garbage in fire rings because it will leave behind grease and food scraps. --Always discard all garbage in wildlife proof trash cans or dumpsters. Keep a clean campsite. --Do not hang garbage from lantern poles. Following these guidelines will keep you from getting your property confiscated from your campsite. We appreciate your cooperation.
- This is a hazardous tree area and branches may fall at any time; use caution when selecting a place to camp
- A Tennessee or Kentucky fishing license is required to fish in the main river of the Big South Fork
- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
- Ay group larger than 25 persons wishing to participate in any activity in the park in which members of the group will depart from an established road and/or parking area must first obtain a permit for such activity. More information can be found online at www.nps.gov/biso/planyourvisit/special-use-permits.htm.
- Please be advised that an approved Permit or Authorization by the superintendent is required before providing business services within Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. This includes services such as RV or tent delivery and setup, firewood sales and delivery, shuttle and transportation services, guided hikes, guided floats, and similar activities. To apply for a permit, please visit our website at www.nps.gov/biso and navigate to the "Doing Business With the Park" section. There you will find application forms, instructions, and contact information.
