Mountaineer Campground

Property and facilities are impressively clean and maintained. On arrival, managers greeted us as if we were long-time friends, and escorted us to our site. The tent/truck campsite was riverside and level for comfortable set up. Quiet campground with rules enforced, but cordially. Our three-night stay was good as it gets from all aspects. Showers/restrooms are clean and often checked on to ensure sanitary conditions. Swimming pool and other amenities equally prepared and in great shape. Entirely a positive camping experience and not overpriced. As an outdoor writer/guidebook author, my travels have led me to hundreds of campgrounds and the Mountaineer Campground sits in the top ten percent. Will return.

We spent almost a month at Mountaineer. We didn't spend lots of time in the campground however it is kept remarkably clean and orderly. Markoe and Stacy spend a great deal of time with upkeep and do a great job and for that we are grateful. Some sites can be tight with neighbors. We had great neighbors during our stay. Pool looked refreshing, pavilion had games and river always available for play. We even had a Robin wanting to build a nest on our RV ladder. When back in the area Mountaineer will be our destination.

We had a lovely time at the campground. I rented a cabin as I am a bit older and it provided more comfort for me. My kids rented a campsite close by. Everything went extremely well. The cabin and campgrounds were clean and well taken care of. There was a swimming pool that was inviting. Showers and rest rooms also very clean. The location was great for local shops and beautiful scenic attractions. I would completely recommend staying here.

Campground manager was wonderful, very helpful and pleasant. Sites on river very nice. Our friends with a diesel pusher had a site on the inside end due to their large rig, they had main sewer plug and drain for entire campground right outside their front door. Campground needs a little updating. Had a great time there but if returning, we might stay another place

Thank you Stacy and Markoe for helping us to have such a wonderful stay at The Mountaineer Camprground - From helping us get backed into the spot, keeping the park extremely clean and allowing the children to swim after hours. The improvements you have made to the campground make it so nice to be able to just come and enjoy all the amenities. We truly hope we can get back down here with our family again.
