What Guests Are Saying
Look Rock Campground offers a peaceful and clean camping experience with well-maintained facilities and friendly hosts. Many visitors appreciate the availability of electric and water hookups at select sites, as well as the quiet atmosphere and opportunities for wildlife sightings, including bears. However, some amenities, like showers and reliable cell service, are lacking, and noise from nearby traffic can be a concern for some campers. Overall, it is a lovely spot for those seeking a tranquil getaway in nature.

Very beautiful campground. Very well maintained and the camp hosts were very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. One word of caution ... if your GPS tells you to take Happy Valley Road - do not do it. It is very steep with lots of hairpin turns. Take the Foothill Parkway instead. Also, bring your own firewood. Firewood is not available at the campground and it's a bit of a drive into town to pick some up.

It was nice and fairly clean. The second bathroom lighting was nonfunctional making it not available at night.

This campground is adjacent to Foothills Parkway, so you will hear motorcycle traffic ALL DAY. It eventually stops later in the evening, but it is pretty hard to relax when there is constant revving and loud vehicles all around you all day long. The campsite itself is beautiful and we loved our site, but due to the near-constant traffic noise we do not plan on returning to this campground.

Did not know this but several of the spots have electric hookups which makes camper camping great! JUst plug in no generator needed.

We have loved camping at Look Rock over the years and have been excited they have reopened. We have stayed there several times since then. This last trip was good one night and awful the next. There doesn’t seem to be anyone upkeeping the facility and restrooms. We were there the last weekend they were open and they were crowded. There needs to be some sort of security procedures for this park to make sure that rules for securing food and noise level after hours are followed. It’s a shame the park closes so early I the season.

Beautiful, recently renovated area. A little ways from GSMNP entrances but worth it and a beautiful drive. Peaceful forested area at almost 3,000 feet elevation with paved parking, nice washrooms, many good spots. Some road noise at times but didn't notice any at night. No bears this time but we were told they do show up there. Nice balance of spots in terms of some are good for tent campers and some are good for RV's (no hookups). #9 was perfect for our smaller RV and tow car.

I loved this location! Electric and water hookups but it is such a remote place! So quiet and peaceful! We went to 4 different sites in the Smokies and this was my favorite place!

People were great but campground too near to the highway. (It was convenient to town...) Had a great time anyway.

Bottom line: Four stars because the dump station was flooded, so "stuff" came up, instead of going down. And there is no water to flush tanks/hoses at the dump station. Otherwise, This is a very nice campground, having been upgraded/improved while it was closed. I was surprised how many "half moon" pull-off type sites there are in this campground, vs back-in sites. This park is ideal for tent campers or those with small travel trailers. Fiver's, check your driveway length carefully, if you're over 35' there are only a few sites that you'll fit in. Most sites are dry-camping only. The campground has beautiful mature trees throughout and there a number of bathhouses that the host keeps up very nicely. There is a potable water stand just insides the campground (50 yards?) on the left, so you can fill your tanks before parking. This campgrond is right off the parkway, so it's a very convenient and short drive to a number of overlooks and an observation tower. (Note, read the campground website concerning your route in; Lord help anyone who uses a map app and doesn't come in via the parkway.) The parkway is a good road with gentle-enough curves for a larger trailer; however, it also attracts motorcyclists and sports car owners, so you will here vehicle traffic from time to time. However, the noise was never enough to bother us and I wouldn't count this campground out because of it. We'd definitionally stay here again.
