What Guests Are Saying

Rock Creek Campground offers a beautiful, peaceful retreat with well-spaced sites, particularly along the creek, providing a serene atmosphere and excellent access to hiking trails and the river. Visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the facilities and the secluded feel, with zero light pollution enhancing the outdoor experience. However, some noted a lack of onsite staff and occasional noise from ATV activity, and it's important to plan ahead for reservations due to ambiguous campsite maps and no cell service.

Very tight, primitive. Not manned and no one to manage folks in campsite and making sure registered gold get their spot.

This campsite has changed from 1st come--1st served to assigned sites. It was a bit of a problem for me that not everyone is on board yet since someone else took my assigned site & I took a different site. I didn't mind accommodating their desire to have three sites that connected together for their large group, but I worried that someone would arrive to the site I ended up "borrowing" & demand that I move. Other than that, the facilities were well kept, there were very few people staying on the weekdays and I had the entire place to myself on one of the days I was there. There are attractive walks connecting to the camp area which even I (with disabilities) could walk. wiFi access was the worst of any place I have ever stayed (couldn't even get satellite connection) so be prepared for that but if you want to get away from the world, this is the place to do it.

The campsite is set in a nice hollow that sits right on the river. Campsite 11 was very nice. Each site has a bear proof food box, fire ring, picnic table, tent pad, and lantern pole. The bathroom may have been the cleanest pit toilet I’ve ever used! You can hike on the Cumberland trail right from the campground. A very short walk will
Also bring you to the Nemo bridge. Great for star gazing on a clear night!

This place is a gem. Hiking, kayaking, off-roading, local history and much more. The campsite is peaceful with a beautiful creek round along the side. An absolute well maintained and strategically located treasure. Don’t forget to visit the local breweries just minutes away. Enjoy!

Overall a very clean campground with nice tent pads and I especially appreciate the food vaults. The toilets need a bit of freshening.
Ranger Gibbs at the visitor center was especially knowledgeable and helpful.
