It's a great campground and an amazing site. I love Big Bend NP and Chisos Basin is the place to stay. Site 60 is great!

Amazing campsite. Right next to the bathroom but private enough to feel slightly isolated. Ok coverage, there were gray foxes that surrounded the campsite when we were cooking but they werent harmful. Expect extreme winds, and use big rocks to set your tent up so it doesnt blow away while on your hike.

Loved our stay at Chisos Basin with the view of the mountains. Our campsite (site 9) was conveniently located near the bathrooms and a short walk to the Window trail trailhead. Some other sites (3,19 etc) had a better view of the mountains unobstructed by trees. The campgrounds were relatively quiet but you can definitely hear talking / sounds from other sites since sound carries well here.

Chisos campsites are closely spaced. Back country sites are beautiful and widely spaced. No-show bookings is a problem. Need some incentive/penalty.

We camped in site 7 which had Casa Grande on one side and the Chisos mountains encircling you. The views were amazing. Site 7 is a pull through with lots of room. It’s not at all level, came up on 3 blocks on the passenger rear and 4 in the front. It’s a generator free campground so extremely peaceful. Bathrooms were clean and warm. Our 25 ft LTV had no trouble navigating the roads or parking at the visitor center, backed in. Tried to view the sunset through the window view, but the sun was too far south, but I’m sure that’s spectacular. You can hike the Windows trail from the campground and save well over a mile. Would definitely stay again.
