Winter Haven Resort, Brownsville, Texas (Age Restricted 55+)

Winterhaven Resort is a mixed use resort having RV space rentals, permanent homes, has 3 saltwater pools, club house all the normal Resort stuff. Located in a gated complex in Brownsville Texas, 30 minutes south of South Pardrie Island and about 50 minutes to Progreso Mx.

I don't live there but my parents winter there. I've never heard a single complaint from a single person in that community so I would say that it deserves five stars. I know that they are constantly busy going from one event to the next or one social Gathering to the next or one card game to the next. Lots of live music and tons of social gatherings offered daily especially during the winter Texans season. When you drive to the resort the area first looks fairly poverty-stricken however once you pull into this community it feels like a little mini Tropical Paradise with very tall mature palm trees everywhere, Resaca waterways throughout the community and numerous swimming pools ( sum of which are heated).

We landed here unexpectedly. Our Motorhome is waiting for repairs.
We have found the people here more than friendly, they've been super helpful.
The facilities are excellent and very well maintained! We think we'll be staying even after we get our Coach back!

We have been coming to this resort every other year. We are on our 3rd year. 1st year the service was great. Reservation was easy. Told you when they picked up garbage and recycling. Gave you your cable box. 2nd year you had to go to spectrum to get your cable box gave you no information on how to do that. No info on days of garbage/recycling they started using Campspot now these sites are all about the same size so we never paid the $25 to keep that spot. We did not have a problem last time we were here. This year they moved me and another person that I know of to different sites. When checking in the gate person didn’t have our information no info on cable, garbage ect. Take a picture of your electrical box when you get there. Some owner have a tendency to use renters electric boxes. Was looking at property to buy but then they changed their web site and you had to be an owner to look at properties for sale. That was a huge debacle to see what was available. Now really on the fence to buy. Winter Haven is going down hill with service, at least with the management.

This is a 55+ resort. E stayed last season and fell in love with the park and people. Bought a place this season. It is a place for active retired people but you can also relax and enjoy the 3 pools, tennis courts, etc. Also plenty of activities to enjoy each week. Dances and dinners at the clubhouse. Quiet and clean, it’s just a nice place to rent or live. We have tried a lot of places in the RGV. This is the best.
