The gate is locked at 9pm. We found it difficult to do the things we wanted to (dinner, entertainment and still make it back in time from San Antonio and Austin.

This is a great park with less than 30 sites, so it isn't crowded. Deer everywhere... literally everywhere. The only negative and thing that needs to change TOMORROW is the fact that the gate locks at 9pm and you can't get your vehicle into the park until 9am the next morning. They need to have a code to open the gate instead of locking is out. We were planning on leaving at 7:30 on departure day but missed the 9pm gate locking and had to leave the truck outside the gate and couldn't begin the hookup until 9am the next morning.

This is a great park situated right in between Austin and San Antonio, giving easy access to both urban areas. But the "must see's" are New Braunfels and Gruene historic districts, with beautiful old buildings, restaurants, and stores - and these two towns are only 15-20 minutes away. The campground is beautifully maintained and the bathrooms are heated - which was a real plus for us, since we arrived during a winter storm! Situated right next to Canyon Lake, it's an ideal setting.

The campground was nothing special. If you weren’t there for the lake activities, there was basically nothing to do but walk around the campground. Will only stop here again for an overnight.
