Double Lake Recreation Area offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience with friendly hosts, well-maintained sites, and clean facilities. Many visitors appreciate the excellent hiking and biking trails, as well as the spacious, private campsites. While some areas need maintenance and improvements, overall, the park provides a great quick getaway close to Houston, making it a favorite for returning campers.

The site was clean and tidy. The bathrooms were very clean. The host was friendly and very helpful. We had a blast, and we'll definitely be back!

Our experience at Double Lakes was enchanting! The lake is beautiful and serene. The walking trail around the lake was an easy and shady 1 1/2 mi, although their are other trails that are longer and more challenging. And there's plenty of off-road cycling. Bring your kayaks because the water is perfect! Most of the campsites are secluded amongst trees. The hosts, Kathy and Greg, made the experience extra special. They are friendly and knowledgeable. They make sure that everyone has a great experience!

From New Waverly, Texas, go 22 mi east on Highway 150 to FM 2025. Turn and drive south 0.3 mi to the campground.

Double Lake Recreation Area is accessible via Highway 150, which is approximately 22 miles west of New Waverly, Texas.

General
- PLEASE DO NOT DISPOSE FLUSHABLE WIPES INTO CAMPGROUND WASTEWATER SYSTEM. THESE PRODUCTS CAUSE SIGNIFICANT BLOCKAGE ISSUES AND ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OUR WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM.
- Two vehicles included with each standard site fee; Four vehicles included with group site fee; extra vehicles charged $9 per night on-site
- Only two tents and up to eight people are allowed at a single occupancy campsite
- No access for newly arriving campers.
- Fire permitted in fire rings only
- Street Legal Vehicles Only
- No alcohol.
- Day use fee of $7 per vehicle per day; annual pass $30 per vehicle; walk-in or bicycle $1 per person per day; dump station use $5 per use
- Site must be occupied in the first 24 hours of reservations
