We selected this park because it was a halfway point between where we were and where we were going, and because we had never been here before. The paved sites are very spacious, with live oak trees, a covered picnic area, fire pit and standing bbq grill. Our particular site was waterfront to the small lake there and had water and electric (no sewer) hookups. They do have full hookups here, but we chose to be close to the lake instead, as we only stayed 3 nights. We met Chuck at the entrance station; he was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again when we have more time.

My favorite COE campground. From great attendants to beautiful oak trees and big site, you just can’t beat it.

So wonderful to see the lake was lapping at the edges of the campsite's once again! This place is so serene and quiet, especially at night, totally dark skies. Watched the almost full moon come up from the horizon and it was awesome to see. Lots and lots of tame deer that come right up to your camp site and hang out grazing and are not afraid of sharing this fabulous place with humanoids. Love the nature aspect of this! Staff is so friendly too. A great place to bicycle around with no traffic but be warned, some of the hills are pretty steep in places so be ready to for a workout in case you're not on an ebike!
The cell reception isn't too good there and the bathrooms have a bit to be desired but they furnish showers and restrooms for those of us that don't have full hookup. Just wish the clean up crews did a better job of knocking down the mud dobber nests in the shower area's and spraying for bugs.
The town of coleman is a delight to visit for everything you need. Sad that the Shoppin Basket is going to be bought out soon. They have the best Bigg's fried chicken ever! Spent 5 nights here and can't wait till we get the opportunity to come back in the near future!
Oh and the bike ride up to the dam and back is totally worth it. Hopefully one day we will catch one of those huge fish that keeps jumping out of the water taunting us! Overall, this is just an enormous treasure of a place to visit and COE has it set up so nice!

We had a private spot by the lake which was quiet. The gate attendant was good and very friendly. Only negative is the bathrooms are a little far from the sites on this loop.
