What Guests Are Saying
Lakeside (TX) is a well-maintained, picturesque campground with spacious sites, beautiful views, and plentiful wildlife. Many visitors appreciated the clean facilities, friendly staff, and peaceful atmosphere, making it a favorite for repeat stays. This is my favorite ACE campground. What I love are the wide open spaces with wildflowers, beautiful oak trees, and wildlife. Campsites are close together but that does not bother us. We has descent internet with my AT&T hotspot. It was good enough to stream YouTube TV and handle a laptop and a couple of iPads. Lake was only 29% full so all fishing docks except 1 were closed. Most boat ramps were closed but there may have been 1 open somewhere. Call the facility to confirm your needs before booking is my recommendation. Shower and toilets were ok at best. Owl Pharmacy is a must see for lunch counter and old fashioned soda drinks.

We love the park. Spacious, quiet. Only issue is people cant seem to understand to turn their lights off. One of our most favorite parks. Close to Coleman and Ballinger, great towns

We reserved group shelter 6 and we noticed the same problems that we encountered last year. The men's bathroom toilet does not shut off. You have to wiggle the handle to get the water to stop running. The kitchen faucets water can't be completely turned off. The entry door will not open or shut properly. It has been worked on several times. There was problems with both doors to the men's and women's bathrooms. You would think that the rental price charged that the shelter would be fully functional. Our family thoroughly enjoys going to Hordes Creek Campground.

From Coleman, TX, take Hwy 153 west 7 miles to the main entrance to
Hords Creek Lake. Follow signs into the campground.

Policies & Rules
Arrival & departure
- The gatehouse hours are Sunday to Thursday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Friday to Saturday and Holidays from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
- Entrance into the park is prohibited between 10 PM and 6 AM for security reasons.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
General
- This park is located on Hords Creek Lake, Texas. Please ensure this is the correct 'Lakeside Campground' you wish to reserve.
Safety & rules
- Boating is at your own risk due to low water levels that may expose underwater hazards.
- Life jackets are required for all lake activities.
- There are no designated swim beach areas due to low lake levels.
Fires & fuel
- Firewood should be purchased locally and burned on-site to prevent the spread of pests.
Site types & loops
- Certain sites will be closed seasonally from October 1 to February 28.
Vehicles & parking
- Vehicles must comply with state laws, including registration and inspection; off-road vehicles and golf carts are not allowed.
- Campsites allow 2 free vehicles; additional vehicles incur a $5 daily fee. Maximum of 4 vehicles for single occupancy and 8 for double occupancy sites.
Wildlife & food storage
- Take precautions to prevent invasive species: clean gear, stay on trails, and properly dispose of organic waste.
