What Guests Are Saying
Lakeside (TX) is a well-maintained, picturesque campground with spacious sites, beautiful views, and plentiful wildlife. Our campsite was FHU, had shade from a tree on one side, and backed up to Proctor Lake. However, it sloped toward the lake, so gravel had washed down and buried the two concrete parking strips. There were also no bushes or trees between sites, so no privacy. Finally, one entire campground loop was closed due to the November date, so not much road to ride our new electric bikes.

We have enjoyed staying in site 49 at least four times, maybe five. However, this last visit wasn’t a good experience.
The electrical stand had a faulty plug. When we reported it to the gate house staff they said it was our problem since we were using an adapter to connect to the 30 amp service (we have a 50 amp 5th wheel) and had successfully used it in our previous stays in this site. The staff was very rude and offered no solution including not allowing us to move to the vacant site next to us. We were able to connect to the 110 outlet and keep our rig’s batteries charged, switched the hot water heater and refrigerator to propane and comfortably survived the cold temperatures with propane heat overnight.
I reported the faulty plug to the ranger station on the first business day after our overnight stay at the campground. I also relayed the information about the rude staff and suggested a refresher course in customer service! We will not return to this campground.

From Coleman, TX, take Hwy 153 west 7 miles to the main entrance to
Hords Creek Lake. Follow signs into the campground.
The campground is accessible via Hwy 153, which connects to US Highway 84 approximately 15 miles to the north.

Policies & Rules
Arrival & departure
- The gatehouse hours are Sunday to Thursday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Friday to Saturday and Holidays from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
- Entrance into the park is prohibited between 10 PM and 6 AM for security reasons.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
General
- This park is located on Hords Creek Lake, Texas. Please ensure this is the correct 'Lakeside Campground' you wish to reserve.
Safety & rules
- Boating is at your own risk due to low water levels that may expose underwater hazards.
- Life jackets are required for all lake activities.
- There are no designated swim beach areas due to low lake levels.
Fires & fuel
- Firewood should be purchased locally and burned on-site to prevent the spread of pests.
Site types & loops
- Certain sites will be closed seasonally from October 1 to February 28.
Vehicles & parking
- Vehicles must comply with state laws, including registration and inspection; off-road vehicles and golf carts are not allowed.
- Campsites allow 2 free vehicles; additional vehicles incur a $5 daily fee. Maximum of 4 vehicles for single occupancy and 8 for double occupancy sites.
Wildlife & food storage
- Take precautions to prevent invasive species: clean gear, stay on trails, and properly dispose of organic waste.
