About Damsite Texas

Damsite Texas is a relatively small campground which consists of a total of 19 campsites. Each of the campsites do have water and electric. The campground is located right along the Red River which gives easy access to popular outdoor activities like fishing. Most of all the campsites are covered by pecan trees within the campground which allows for great shade during the summer time. Before the enterance to the camground you will notice there are multiple picnic tables and a pavillion to be able to utilize for the day, this allows visitors to spend the day along the Red River and enjoy the scenary while not having to pay the cost for overnight camping within the campground. If a visitor does choose to bring a boat to explore lake Texoma, there is a popular spillway boat ramp area that is located at the Denison dam.

Site 8 has fire ring, Water & Electric on wrong side of camper so we pulled in instead of backed in.
Was fairly level and a good length.
The shower hose, flush toilet building had been vandalized so ws unusable during our stay. There are however pit toilets that were fine. Campground is very close to the outflow of Texoma Dam and there were plenty of people fishing and they were having luck. It rained much of our time there so we didn’t get to enjoy the outdoors. Just on the OK side of the dam there is a gas station with fairly good convenience store.

Just say no. This was our first and last trip, the place has potential but… I regret not bringing my bang sticks with me! Pretty sure there is a human trafficking ring running out of this place. The fire pit was full of trash which included clothing and makeup packaging. Eeek not coming back here. Oh, and if the off leash Rottweiler keeps coming my way with his pit mix friend I might have to dispatch them. Let me also comment on the numerous middle school drawings of penises in the out house with multiple numbers to call for "favors". We were one of three 'not permanent' campers, one was living in a tent, which, not a big deal, everyone has to live somewhere. The sign said that no camp host was on site, that's an understatement! We NEVER saw any Law Enforcement drive through the campsite. No one checked to see if we, or anyone else had paid to be camped there. It felt un safe. It was very cold that weekend and the State Park less than a mile up the road was all booked. It's a nice area with the Red River on one side and a creek on the other, but, loose big dogs, parties until 3 AM and some shady folks make it a No Go for us.

10/14/22, Small clean campground at base of Lake Texoma dam. Typical of COE managed campgrounds. No campground hosts while we were there. Registration online only and ATT/Verizon connection was very slow, 1 or 2 bars. Full sun and shaded sites are your choice.

Nice place with plenty of shade. Some of the campsites need to be fixed up, and would be great if they were concrete pads. #7 is the most secluded and I chose it for that reason. It’s a great spot when it doesn’t rain. When it rains the entire campsite is 3” deep in water. Also keep your awnings in mind when you pick a campsite. I recommend doing this in person vs. on the website. Some campsites won’t allow the use of your awning(such as #11) as the trees interfere with being able to use them.

This has been an awesome experience. Quiet and not a lot of traffic in and out. We can't wait for the next time we get to camp out here. The fishing is awesome too!

Everything was good except the bathroom. There needs to be a better bathroom with shower.
