Beware the site numbers are all wrong. It’ll be hard to find your spot unless they fix it

We had perfect weather for a camp fire. Caught a large catfish, and kids had a great time.

Great camping spot without having to drive hours from DFW. Added bonus: Gaylord Texan fireworks on Friday nights. Nice, covered tables and well-maintained fire rings.

The man at the gate was completely unresponsive. My husband and I arrive late and stressed and ask if the man can enter us manually for a tent site... he casually bloats that he doesn’t have to do that anymore because of the new system and tells us to leave and go online. Upon returning, he meets us with an all to relaxed attention that goes to completely ignore our upset for his continuing disregard: obviously enjoying not HAVING to do one last thing, again when he speaks laxidacially about not being able to give us a map because of COVID and wears no mask.

The only thing I can recommend. That the campsites could use some repairs, weeds be trimmed down, etc. just the normal up keep. Other then that I love to camping there.

This site was beautiful and offered a great camping experience, and I have but 2 complaints... firstly, finding your site can be tricky, but I ended up getting lucky, you’ll want to memorize your location on the map. Secondly, the firewood policy made it seem like you can buy on site, but this isn’t the case. Overall, very good experience in the Winter.

Great spot

It was too windy and my three year old daughter screamed a lot. I suppose that's not the park's fault though. We love Murrell Park because it's close to civilization, the campsites are well-kept and spread out, the staff are friendly, the lake views are pleasant, the price is much cheaper than the TX State Parks, and the trails are great for hiking! My kids love heckling the mountain bikers as they struggle through technical climbs and fall all over themselves. Such fun! We'll certainly be back.

Nice overall experience. Good trails and scenery. Few things to be aware of. (1) The site is very much in the open without tree cover and there is limited privacy near the site. (2) There were also a lot of rocks in the ground that made staking in the tent challenging. (3) There were a ton of bikers on the trail so we had to constantly get off to the side. We counted 50 bikers on a 2.5-mile loop. (4) Bathrooms are very basic pit-toilet types with no electricity (i.e., lighting) or water (i.e., sink). However, as long as you are ready for this type of experience, it is a great place to go for a great price.

Quite a few interesting bike trails, lots of excellent day areas to enjoy.
Well patrolled by both park staff and local police. Immaculate campsites.
Look forward to returning as soon as possible.
