We took a group of ten teens for an overnight stay. Site was clean. Fish were biting. Weather was epic. The peninsula site was awesome. The shade trees were perfect. The bathroom was close. The trash dumpster was close. It was quiet. The marina was about 100 yards away. Great location for a bunch of first time campers.

The staff was friendly and helpful in making your stay fun and what i needed.
The camping area was kept clean. It was a beautiful view of lake with the boats going by. I loved watching so many fishing out on lake. Next time I want to fish. Thanks to the Park Rangers for all their help and to the camp hosts!

The place is pretty but, when we arrived, people were occupying both spots we had rented. One guy was sitting eating lunch at the covered picnic table with his dog and left without much hassle and pretty quickly. The other site had a large tent set up and took the people about an hour to take it down. They also left a mess of onion peels and other trash on the picnic table.
Then, before we got even set up, we had a cop show up and accuse us of smoking weed. Even said he didn't smell anything but that didn't stop him from walking around the campsite looking for a reason to get his dog out of the truck.
Had multiple people walking through our campsite to get to the lake.
Had a couple people claim they were renting it the following night and ask if they could set up tents by us.
Then there was the guy with the boat with the loud engine (open headers) that was driving around the lake at 2am and 3 am and 4 am...
We wont be back.

Loud music everywhere. No control at all. It seems people got the camp site for a party a lot. Very loud and noisy until they leave. I drove and it is same for all stes. I will never go back here

Fantastic experience. The restrooms and campsites were clean and easily accessible. There is a gate with an attendant at the entrance.

The south side of the lake is located in Grapevine, Trophy Club and Southlake, Texas in Tarrant County.

Highway access
Murrell Park is accessible via FM 2499 and is approximately 5 miles from Interstate 35E. Additionally, it is about 8 miles from State Highway 121.
Policies & Rules
General
- The lake functions for flood control and conservation; lake levels fluctuate
- There is no RV camping
- Campers must bring their own drinking water during winter months
- Park entry is free
- The park is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Alcohol and glass containers are prohibited
- Equipment to alter or cut down park vegetation, including but not limited to chainsaws, mowers and weed eaters, is prohibited
- Off-road vehicles, ATVs, dirt bikes, golf carts and other non street-legal vehicles are not permitted in the park
- Boats are subject to inspection for Zebra Mussels, an invasive aquatic species; To learn moreClick Here
- There are no lifeguards at swimming areas around the lake; all swimmers swim at their own risk
- Snakes do inhabit the area around the lake; please use cation
- Murrell Park allows a maximum of 2 tents, 2 vehicles and 8 people per campsite. If you have questions about campsite limits please contact our project office at (817) 865-2600
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
- Advance reservations required
- RV's and Camping trailers not allowed. vehicle must fit in standard sized parking spot.
