Stayed only 1 night on way to another location. Always enjoy our stay here.

I'm posting this not as a review of the campground, but as a comment on the reservation cancellation process. Unfortunately, we decided we could not do the trip due to illness, but it was too late by then to cancel online. I called the Corps administrative office at Granger Lake and left a message that we could not come, but I did not hear back, so I do not know how or if it was handled. I understand we forfeited the cost of the entire reservation, which was only for 3 nights. It seems there should be a way to inform "the system" that you will not be showing up at the campsite at all, so at least that campsite could be put back into play for others.

Very nice park with spaced out and spacious sites. Only complaint was a toilet overflowed while we were there and flooded the bathhouse. The attendant came and shut off the water, but the facility was not cleaned after. To say it was gross would be an understatement.

The sites were large with nice shade shelter but it would be nice if they trimmed down some of the brush leading to the lake so you can see the lake

No water in the restrooms, bugs in bathrooms, kept grounds mowed nicely, grandson fell down the very steep stairs to the boat dock and had to have emergency surgery; there are NO handrails down a very steep slope. No sites near or even close to the lake. There are way better places to stay!

Quiet sites, the beach is nice but a car's drive away which can be a bit of a hassle. The bathrooms are comparable to what I've seen at most Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds, which is to say they're not nice. If you're used to what you experience in Texas State Parks, this is a big step down. That's not to say that state park bathrooms are nice, these are just that much less so. Park staff was friendly and helpful and the location relative to the Austin area is nice.

I camped at site 3. When I arrived, there was extensive trash at the site. Cig butts, plastic bottles, aluminum foil pieces, a few old dolls, and numerous plastic wrapper pieces and other odds and ends. I took pictures upon arrival to ensure that I would not be blamed for this trash which extended down into the wooded area. I cleaned up the trash around the immediate camp site. This site should be cleaned, and each site inspected after a camper leaves. Campers should be charged a cleanup fee for any trash/site damage. Unfortunate, but some people have little regard for the environment and the animals that live there. Otherwise, I found the facility a pleasant experience. The volunteers were very pleasant as were the other campers I came in contact with. The bath houses are in need of some work, but that is probably a function of the money available. Overall, a good recreation facility serving the area.
