Hickory Creek offers clean campsites, plenty of shade from trees, and a beautiful natural setting with abundant wildlife, making it a favorite for many campers. Guests appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, along with well-maintained grounds and facilities. However, there are consistent concerns regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of bathrooms, along with some issues related to power outages.

We've had several stays over the past few months since we purchased our Motorhome. Mostly good. We've been doing short trips to get the new rig outfitted and set up. That said, the Summer heat and lack of shade and breeze make most sites here unbearable. We've been lucky once. Their photos on the details tabs are old and don't accurately represent the pads and sites present day. Trees have been cut down and dumpsters relocated. There are a few partly shady spots but they are rarely available during the peak times. Google Earth and Street View are more accurate than the .GOV site. The rules state no stays over 14 days but it's clear that some sites are year round and not camp/park hosts. There are some sketchy sites throughout the Park from our recent experiences so take it for what it's worth. Overall, this USACE park gets a 3/5 during the Summer months from us. The cherry picked sites make all the difference in shade and breeze if they are available. = )

Debbie, Dana and Cindy of the office staff are the best, most helpful and considerate of any place we visit here in North Texas. The park is well maintained and the wildlife is exceptionally visible for being so close to an urban setting.
