Walden Retreats Hill Country

We traveled here from Pennsylvania for a wedding and absolutely LOVED this place! It is so quiet and peaceful and the perfect place to host a wedding! The sites and sounds overnight from nature gave you a camping experience but in the comfort of their beautiful yerts! Absolutely recommended for a romantic getaway!

Our stay at Walden Retreats near Johnson City was exactly what we didn’t know we needed. Nestled among live oaks and limestone bluffs, our tent offered that rare blend of simple living and quiet comfort. Mornings began with coffee on the deck as golden Hill Country light filtered through the trees; evenings ended beneath a sky so full of stars it felt endless.

There’s something grounding about canvas walls, fresh air, and the soft sounds of nature replacing screens and schedules. It called to mind Thoreau’s reflections in Walden — living deliberately, slowing down, and finding richness in simplicity. Yet every detail was thoughtfully designed, making the experience feel both authentic and restorative.

Our host, Becky, was exceptional — warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our stay special without ever intruding on the sense of peaceful retreat. Her hospitality elevated an already memorable experience.

If you’re looking to unplug, breathe deep Texas air, and reconnect with what matters, Walden Retreats is a true escape. We left rested, grateful, and already planning our return to the Hill Country.

I have traveled many areas around the world, and I found Walden retreat An excellent place to get away and clear your mind. It is Beyond people and serene. The tent was clean and exactly as described. The wood fired hot tub was exceptional! Money and effort well spent😊

Decided to go here for a staycation birthday and it did not disappoint. Tents were comfortable and cozy. Amenities were on point. The quietness was peaceful. And the views were abundant. I would, however, suggest the lower tents/suites for the better views but even though we had a higher one, we still thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommend.

This was my first experience with a yurt and I absolutely loved it. The location is gorgeous, the room was amazing and fully stocked with cookware for my meals. I ordered the steak (tender and juicy) the stores, and hot chocolate. It was all waiting for me in the mini fridge. The soaking tub was awesome! If you follow the directions for everything, it all works like a charm. Also, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! ,beautiful view day and night
I highly recommend to anyone who likes to camp but doesn't Want to deal with sleeping on the ground and dealing with the elements.
