Wake and Lake RV Resort

This place feels like a scam. We booked online last minute after our other reservation elsewhere fell through. Upon pulling in - everything is completely opposite of what the scammy reviews say on Facebook and we did not stay.

Why I say scam:

1) After clicking one of the 5 star review profiles to see if it was legit, I get a Facebook messenger post from that person offering me a job.

2) The reservation email confirmation says , : email us if you have any questions or concerns- it is a no reply email address and there are no emails listed anywhere.

3) It says phones are answered 24/7 - they are not answered at all and this was us calling at 4:00 on a Friday.

4) It says manager onsite 24/7- there was no office as the building near the pool is under construction and has porter potty’s outside.

5) The grass hasn’t been mowed in weeks so if tall grass in Texas and bugs and likely snakes are your thing then good luck to you. I’m talking like 2 feet tall with weeds.

The only correspondence I have been able to get is via the AI chat box on their website who just said “Oh no I’ll let Mark know.” We haven’t heard anything from anyone at this place and just want our money back. I guess thank goodness for credit card company’s and fraud departments.

I was looking through the reviews, and I've got to tell you, I'm confused. My son chose to go to this park that appeared to still be under construction. It appears very nice with a lovely pool. Frankly, it was the most beautiful pool I had ever seen. I also love the uniform and decorative utility boxes (not sure what to call them). They hide the hookups and just make the place look nice.

It is purported to be dog friendly. There are even photos in one of the reviews of a man with his service dog. Several photos. I point this out because the ability to take photos with my service dog did not present itself.

I have a terminal neurological condition. I've had Arlo for 6 years and he has saved my life on more occasions than I can remember (lol) I haven't been in a swimming pool since I became ill nor having obtained Arlo. He has only seen me in the shower.

My granddaughter and I went to the pool one evening. It was probably going to be the last time I would be in a pool. I got in and sat on a ledge of about 5 inches of water. Arlo wasn't sure what to make of it. But then I got in the deep water up to my neck. Arlo became agitated. I went under for just a moment and that startled or scared him so he jumped in after me to help. He wasn't in for just a second and we immediately helped him out. My granddaughter started playing with him to distract him from me being in the pool but I went ahead and got out.

The next thing we knew the manager (not sure if he is the owner or not) came over and stood several yards away. He had to yell at us from that distance. Without asking any questions, he began berating us about my dog. Only he wouldn't listen to a thing we had to say and just told us we had to leave when our payment had expired on the following Sunday. Mind you there were no signs about "no dogs allowed except for service dogs" as one would ordinarily see. I assume because that would expressly allow for service dogs. Which leads me to wonder about the picture...

Any rational person, meaning those with critical thinking skills and maturity, would not have had a pubescent, hot-headed, knee-jerk reaction about this situation. He chose instead to guard is perceived baseless self-righteous ego, assume things and react. Btw, he lives a good distance from the pool, so I have to wonder how he knew we were there (as well as another incident). He just have cameras that also don't have signs to indicate as much. I'm not sure if the legality but it sure gives a person the creeps to think about hidden cameras in an area where people are scantily clad.

The following few days were tense with equally juvenile dirty looks while he strutted around the place. It was a gross display of dog hatred, misogyny, ableism and possibly voyeurism. If he can be this way towards a service dog and disabled person, think how he will be with non-service dogs.

Disappointed. Website clearly states "clean restrooms and showers" multiple times. We only book places with showers and bathrooms because we have 4 teens. We arrive to find bathrooms and showers under construction. When I call and ask about bathrooms I am met with a chuckle and, "Oh, you're about 2 months too early." Well, so is your website. It also states it is shaded, a handful of spots provide shade, that's it. Website says "spa", there is none. Nice pool. Websites states perfect for "boats and jet skis", does not mention, it is not on the water and they do not own a boat ramp, and send you across the street to use a private ramp that has zero room for parking. On top of all of this, there were visible mounds of fire ants, that not one drop of ant killer was on. My husband had to go buy some. It's camping, there's bugs, but giant mounds right next to concrete slabs, come on. The place has potential, but the blatant false advertising is unacceptable. For $11 more a night, you can go to Sunset Point, right on the water, with bathrooms, showers, pool and shade. Would not book again. Not worth the money.

We stayed here for 10 days April 2026 and found it very nice. Camp host Mark was especially helpful the whole time. Resort is very clean and new with a great pool area. Sites are all paved and level and hook ups are convenient. There’s a donut shop just feet away and grocery store close by. Lake LBJ with restaurants etc is also close by. We enjoyed our stay and will return.

Up and coming. Showers and community bathrooms are not finished yet. Pool is available. Great location. Easy check in and out
