What Guests Are Saying
Kimball Bend Park is a beautiful and well-kept campground with spacious sites, friendly hosts, and a peaceful atmosphere by the Brazos River. Many visitors appreciate the park's potential and the ongoing renovations, though there are concerns about high grass, ant infestations, and restroom cleanliness. Pulled thru. Very poor condition and over grown. Very disappointed. Didn't even stop, went over to the county Hamm Creek park just up the river. Very very nice. Much better.

It would have been nice to pull up to a mowed area. The grass was a foot tall. We camp with friends and couldn’t walk campsite to campsite!!! Fortunately a friend brought his mower after I told them the grass was high!!!! We mowed our own path to each campsite & also to the river!! Oh, did I mention both Park Host areas were mowed very nicely!! One was being mowed again while we were there. May be a while before we return and that’s sad because we really like it there.

Kimball is undergoing some great renovations right now. Everything is going to be so nice when it is completed. We have told friends and plan on returning next Spring with them. So excited to what’s in the future.

I found that I may not return there. The only place the grass was mowed was around the people who stay and take care of the park ???
There were cigarette butts all around our picnic table . Just not a good visit

Grass was over a foot tall in some places. No campsites had yet been mowed yet this year. With the exception of the camp hosts site. Grounds are infested with sand burrs and fire ants. Camp host was a b!+€#. Got yelled at for riding a motorcycle on the grass. Kimball Bend is campground I disliked the least.

This park has so much potential. Small, spacious, but definitely in need of some love.
Grass hadn't been mowed in a while. Some campers actually brought mowers or trimmers. In the six nights we were there, we saw one camp host mow one site one day and one on another day. This is in spite of the fact that both camp hosts had large zero-turn mowers at their sites. Couldn't even access the historical site signs due to thigh-high grass.
The campground was supposed to have no day use, but a couple of campers had multiple car loads of guests for a big gathering on two of the days/evenings.
Only briefly saw one camp host outside his rig once. Saw the other a couple of times. Neither checked on us, checked us in, or even acknowledged our existence. No window sticker to show whether we belonged there or not.
The boat ramp parking appears to be recently repaved, but evidently the ramp has been closed for quite some time (months) due to the road being blocked by construction equipment that was being used for work on the highway bridge.
Would love to love this park, but it needs help. Lots of large pecan trees for shade. Well space sites. But the sites need some more gravel and the picnic table areas cleaned up.
