Tejas Park

This is a very small park with camping spots fairly close together. I was fortunate to go at a time of year when it was not crowded, however my spot was right next to the main hiking trail, so there was not much privacy (Spot #11). The trail itself was absolutely gorgeous and I would definitely go back for the hiking experience. There are no showers or running water at the campsite, so prepare for a rustic experience if you go.

I had previously stayed at site 002 on 8/6 and the site was lovely. I then rented site 002 and 003 for my most recent stay at Tejas Camp on 10/1 & 10/2. Site 002 has been completely ravaged and looks nothing like it did in August. So much of the brush and woods is now destroyed. There was a makeshift tent set up to the newly cleared area of the site and things littered over site 002. I called the number on the sign and it rang for over an hour. The site felt so uncomfortable that our group moved completely over to site 003. The owners of the makeshift tent came back after dark and were loud, angry and made a big deal of dragging their belongings to a truck prior to peeling out of the parking lot.

They ended up coming back at sunset the next day, cursing loudly while dragging all of their belongings back to their cleared out, destroyed part of the woods. They angrily chopped down more branches, put lighter fluid on their pile of branches and lit up a fire so big it was scary and intimidating. They stayed up the entire night howling at coyotes and barking back at other campers' dogs. They made us feel threatened and uncomfortable.

I'm not sure what our group would have done if we didn't rent out the other 003 camp site. We did not feel safe at or around site 002. We are saddened by the destruction of a once beautiful area and disheartened by the lack of security and care provided by the park rangers. We will not be returning to Tejas Camp.

I wanted to take my boys camping for the first time close to home. The experience was ok, but the camp site was dirty and littered with cigarette butts from people partying the previous night.
In addition a group of 20 or so campers in three tent areas made a ton of noise, loud music and screaming until 2 am. We’d planned to get up early to hike and fish at lake Georgetown, but with little sleep, we were not able to get up as early and were tired the next day. The loud obnoxious group ruined the experience for several other families and couples who were camping. I understand having a good time, but I hope the park rangers patrol more often, especially holiday weekends, and try to eliminate this type late night partying. It is not meant for a public camp sites that people try to enjoy with their families.

Would have been nice if a park ranger was there to answer questions or help people..

The bathrooms were rancid. I could hardly breathe. The people next to me were loud, drunk, and up all hours of the night. I got no sleep, and did not enjoy one bit of My week there

If your looking for a very rustic place to camp this is it. No flush able bathrooms, but the ones there are semi clean, the only thing is they do stink. Wish there was something they could put inside the box. Also would be nice if the lights near the bathroom worked and where on.
