Shaffer Bend Recreation Area

Park was beautiful and clean with well marked trails and good-looking campsites. Some trails lead down to the river. There are some good beaches and people like to go fishing here.

Worst trail experience of my life. Overgrown with stickers/spurs. They need to 1. Maintain the trails properly or 2. At very least post online the trails are unusable/unsafe and post warning signs at the park. I’m lucky my friend, by chance, decided not to drive an hour to hike with me.

I only didn’t rate it one star because I could tell the campsites are nice and the trails should improve when some vegetation dies off come winter.

Hidden gem and now one of my top favs, cold water on hot summer days and wildlife everywhere. Campsite large and rangers patrol . Reasonable rates . Online payments do not work is my only complaint. Had to go find a campsite then drive all the way to front to pay cash and reserve .

Amazing anniversary adventure! My husband and I recently celebrated our 2nd anniversary in AMANI at Shaffer Bend, and it was truly magical. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the luxury yurt. It had a cozy king-size bed, a full bathroom, a kitchenette, and A/C – everything we needed to feel right at home.

The park is absolutely stunning, and the views from the secluded yurt were incredible. We had so much fun riding the electric trail bikes and exploring the different trails. Each trail offered a unique adventure! We also loved the private cowboy pool and grilling up some delicious meals. The easy access to the river was a real treat, with a sandy beach perfect for soaking up the sun.

But what made our stay extra special was the amazing staff. Reecy, the host, was phenomenal. She made us feel truly cared for, always anticipating our needs and sharing valuable insights about the area and the parks.

AMANI is the perfect lovers' getaway. We can’t wait to go back in the fall when things cool down a bit. We’re looking forward to using the fire pit and hot tub then. If you’re looking for a luxurious and unforgettable escape with your special someone, we highly recommend AMANI in Shaffer Bend!

Highly recommend this park/camp ground. Bring your bikes, pets, tents and all. If you can, book campsite 16 or 17, you will not be disappointed, it's right next to the lake shore. This place is sooooo beautiful! Plus, the owners rock, literally some of the nicest people on the planet. This is one place around the Austin area that you should have on your list to check out.
