Great, secluded campground. All other campers were respectful, and the bathroom facilities were adequate. The drive to the campground, though quite long, was an enjoyable drive through interesting country.

Nice remote campground. Decent space between campsites with a short walk in from parking area. Much more wind protection and somewhat more shade than the other side of the park. Limited hiking trails, but they are beautiful. High grass along most of trails, so wear pants. Campsites 1 and 2 are quite close to the bathroom, which I didn’t love but might be preferable for some people. Peaceful and beautiful place.

SIte 5 was shaded slightly and great location near fence. Bathroom heated and working order. Dishwashing sink was great help. There was some wifi coverage near the upper parking lot and ranger station. beautiful location and quiet.

So much place overthere and then just a smal parking next to each other. And, 24 hours/ a parcked owned diesel-generator! disturbing the silence and the evironment.

Beautiful spot that’s way off the beaten track but worth the drive if you are looking for solitude. Great trail starting at the campground. Only drawback was the RV sites, which are basically just a parking area with no privacy, but we ended up moving to the parking area for the tent sites because nobody was there. Would definitely go back.

From Carlsbad NM to the Dog Canyon area of Guadalupe Mountains National Park, take US Hwy 285 north to NM Hwy 137 and turn south. Travel (62 miles/100 km) to Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Dog Canyon entrance.
From the Pine Springs Visitor Center to Dog Canyon, take US Hwy 62/180 east. Once you enter New Mexico, travel 25 miles (40 km) and turn left onto County Road 408 (Dark Canyon road). Travel approximately 23 miles (27 km) to the intersection with NM Hwy 137/Queen Hwy, turn left/south. Follow Queen Hwy 25 miles (40 km) to the Dog Canyon entrance. The drive time between Dog Canyon Campground and Pine Springs Campground is 2 hours.
Use extreme caution! This is open rangeland, cattle are frequently on the roadway.
