Honestly, I'm sure this is fine some of the time, especially if you have a camper, but when we were there, the entire campsite was covered in the pokey stickers. Not the soft ones that are easy to pull out, but the razor sharp ones. I know they can't really control nature, but that wasn't safe for pets or children. Maybe it was just the time of year (late October/early November). The man at the check in was really nice, and the process was easy. We just had to turn right back around and go home because of the burrs.

Excellent park with hot showers. The main boat ramps were shut down for some reason. We were there Nov. 7-14th in a 43 ft. fifth wheel. Lots of deer to see. The sand burrs/ grass stickers were horrible. I had to buy my dog some boots to wear. The front gate was locked at all times except between 2-4 pm. I don't know the reason for this but it was a hassle to unlock especially after dark. The staff are excellent, helpful and accommodating. The restrooms were cleaned daily. We would definitely stay there again.

This is a wonderful very well maintained Corp of Engineers campground on Lake Somerville. RV sites are level with plenty of spacing, lots of people tent camping. Sites have water and electric and there is a dump station. Clean bathrooms, well maintained trails and miles of accessible shoreline. Great AT&T and 2 bars T-Mobile reception. Some areas are closed because of previous flooding. Tons of deer wandering around every evening. Highly recommend for a relaxing place to stay.

Most of the campsites at Rocky Creek park were unavailable when we visited in early November of 2021. The campsites that were open were not very crowded though. We only stayed one night but we tried fishing to catch dinner. That was not successful so we had delicious hamburgers cooked on a wood fire. We also put in our kayaks and paddled around near the park. We found out that we had been trying to catch fish in waters only a foot deep. We paddled out to a peninsula across the inlet and a large bird flew out and landed on a protruding log not far from us. The bird had the distinctive markings of a mature bald eagle. It perched on the log, seemingly posing for us for a couple o minutes then flew away. However, we we not able to spot a bald eagle nest in the area. There were many other birds to watch - blue herons, egrets, vultures…
