We had a great stay at site #4. Very large site with private area behind and on a corner so only 1 camper beside you. Tons of parking area also. Showers were hot but definitely needed a bit of cleaning attention. The only disappointment I have was that we had to book a site online only. There were plenty of sites available but you could not drive in unless you had an advanced reservation. How silly is this? We originally went to Rocky Creek Campground up the road but the gate was closed and locked with a sign reservations only. We then ended up here. Luckily there was someone in the booth when we drove up and she explained the only way we could stay was to utilize my phone and make an acct. online and then book a site. She was very helpful but Sheesh....Sometimes you just want to go camping. Also...the recreation.gov site does not say "reservations only" so this only adds to the confusion. What if I didn't have a computer or a phone with data...I would have been turned away just like Rocky Creek.

The ants and stickers were horrible. The grass was tall but probably because of all the rain. There is no awning over the picnic table but really didn't matter to us, but may to some. It was a stormy weekend and must have been a lot of cancellations, as the spots on both sides of us were empty, making for a perfect spot. Just watch the ants and stickers and it makes for a perfect spot.

When I was given an entry code I expected an electric gate with a key pad. Instead it was a coded pad lock with a manual gate. Extremely hard to see in the dark without a light source. With the removal of paid full time gate attendants, seems to me the USACE could at least install electronic gates. Other than the rain the fishing and stay were great.

park and employees great, weather was not, and some of the "weekend" crowd have no idea what it means to have a convienience like Yegua to use, some people are just filthy, they had took a dump in the shower, this concerned me but I took the time to clean it up, hope it doesn't happen again, but other than that allis good at Yegua!
