We dealt with many of the park staff on our last 8 day stay, they are fantastic. The park is clean and all services are in good repair and fully operational. There are lots of prairie areas in the park and the deer are very active.
15 min away (Somerville, Tx) has Groceries/Dollar store, auto parts store, fuel, some fast food. (Momma's kitchen for the best breakfast). 25min away (Brenham, TX) has most services/amenities visitors might need (wider array of dining, wineries, craft beers, several chain restaurants, Home Depot, Walmart, sporting goods, car dealers) don't miss taking a tour of Bluebell Creamery or stopping by HEB for a excellent grocery experience (try any of their store brand prepared foods for a special treat (they sell $1Millon worth of their brisket queso a week)
The park has recently change the boat ramp access (now limited to just the folks camping/staying in the park) which makes boat trailer parking much easier (vs previous full public access).

Went camping in October and the weather was beautiful. Water wasn't too cold for swimming so the kids had a blast. My grandson rode his bike for the first time without his training wheels. The kids enjoyed the campground and doing activities outdoors. Campers here at this park are always friendly and very mindful of children playing and riding their bikes. We go back quite often and make new memories all the time. Great family vacation spot.

Site 36 is an excellent site as long as a camper is not in 37.
Camper in 37 is very close and really blocks your view to the lake,
but still gives you good view to the swimming hole.

Site 2 was level gravel and the electric and water were great! When leaving the park, the exit lane has the metal spikes that flatten tires if you try to enter the park through the exit lane. Unfortunately, when I exited in my motorhome through that metal spike lane, the metal spikes snagged my rock guard and did several hundred dollars of damage to the rock guard. I recommend that you make the camp host let you leave via the gated exit and only use the metal spiked exit in an emergency. (My tires were not damaged.)

A group I was with were camping about 25 mi from Yegua COE Park near Somerville Texas. Some of us wanted to see the park for future trips. I had stayed at Yegua and Rocky Creek several times. At the gate we were required to make a reservation (on line) in order to enter even though we all had lifetime passes. The person at the gate was very courteous but said it was for "security" reasons. (three old men could start a riot) I personally think it was for money reasons for the concessionaire. What ever the reason is it's a dumb idea.
