What Guests Are Saying
Spruces Campground offers a serene and beautiful setting with well-maintained facilities, including flush toilets and potable water, particularly in the lower loop. Campers appreciate the spaciousness and privacy of the sites, especially spot 7, which many guests found charming and well-equipped. While some noted issues like decreasing lake levels and confusion over campsite numbering, the overall experience is enhanced by a friendly camp host and the campground's picturesque surroundings, encouraging repeat visits.

Spot 7 is absolutely the best spot to camp. There is flush toilets and potable water. All of the camp spots are very secluded and private. Especially spot 7. We will be coming back every summer <3

Space 7 is absolutely adorable. We left early but wished we could have stayed longer. SO we booked another stay later in the month. Both stays were amazing, quiet and relaxing.

Our Experience with the Spruces Campground was by far the best I have had yet, Tom our campground host, is a super cool guy, very helpful, friendly, and is a very informative and smart person on top of that, and we love his big dog. The campsite was very spacious enough for our 26ft. long motorhome with a 12ft. trailer attached, and it was level and well paved, not to mention that the picnic tables and the cement pad was also very spacious. The only downside is the lake level is decreasing rapidly, but that is not the campgrounds fault. We are going to make reservations, and re-visit this same campground again next year for sure, and maybe for a week next time.

The upper loop is beautifully paved and very clean. All sites have fire ring and a stand for a grill and a picnic table. The camp host was really nice and the views were stunning.

Loved this campground! Was a bit surprised it was a walk-in site - not a long walk, but its the second to last site at the end so bring a wagon if you have a ton of gear! Beautiful site surrounded by abundant wildflowers and trees, beware the poison ivy and oak everywhere. It was breezy the entire time, so I wouldn't suggest a shaded canopy unless you're okay with it possibly breaking. We did go check out the two other campgrounds here - Te-ah and Navajo, but I think this was the prettiest one. We stayed in the upper loop, which only had vault toilets but the lower loop does have running water and flush toilets, plus a very short walk to the lake. Will be adding this place to my camping go-to's.

Such a good spot! Awesome fire pit, tent spot, table. Close to water. Bathrooms were clean. Lake front was clean and quiet. My only complaint is enforcement of quiet hours. Generators running all night! That really ruins the ambiance in a place that claims to have quiet hours after 10 PM.

Tom is the BEST camphost we have ever had in 20+ years of camping. Such a patient, kind, and softspoken guy who just wants others to enjoy their time in nature.

A beautiful location in the midst of an old lava field Navajo Lake is breathtaking.

Pleasant small campground. Most spots are not private. Beautiful setting! Many trees in the area and lots of flowers and green plants. Clear water lake. Very nice location!
Note: I reserved #7 on the online map showing it to be right on the lake and straight-in easy backing. But when I got there #7 was two spaces to the right and up the hill to the east. It turned out to be an excellent site though, private, trees, spacious; however, it was difficult to get my 33ft fifth wheel in there because of the sharp bend and hill. But I did it. I would want that site again though.
Recreation.gov will update the campsites numbers eventually hopefully, but when I was there it was two spaces to the right up the hill from the open one I expected that unobstrucually overlooks the lake.
The highway to the campgrounds is not busy and eventually turns into a dirt road so the road is not busy. I spent a lot of time riding my bike on it.
Great view of the lake and the trees and meadows. Many of things to do nearby including lava fields, ponds and lakes, lava tube caves, waterfall trail, small towns, and Cedar Breaks National Monument.
Many sites are located close to the lake. The other small portion of the campground is directly across the road and is being revamped currently to allow large RVs to camp there. The numbering system on the recreation.gov website is not correct. Nor was it correct over a year ago. Certainly they could have fixed it by now. So to restate--we reserved site number 7 online showing it to be right next to the lake. (Actually it is physically #5.) But when we got there sitr number 7 was two places away further up the hill from where we expected to be.
Pit toilet restrooms were installed while we were there June 24 to June 28, 2024.
