Aspen (UT)

I would recommend Aspen Campground. It is spacious and quiet. We had spot #13, which was great. I'm not sure why there's a fence in front of the river, but it was still easy to access and was nice.

Nice spot, well maintained. We chose wisely going Sunday, Monday and Tuesday as there was only one other group there. It is beautiful.

Beautiful little campground that really makes you feel close to nature. The amenities are very much non-existent; some pit toilets and trash receptacles and that's it. We were in the group campsite which was huge; 2 fire pits, 3 huge picnic tables (20 feet long it seemed) and 2 standing "prep" tables. Also has a horseshoe pit (bring your horseshoes though!). Also easy access to the river; the campground is fenced so there's a few access points along the fence line and one is right at the group site. A 2 minute walk and you're at the river. In late August it was still chilly but you got used to it; and it felt good since daytime temps were still in the low 90s. River was great fun for the kids, it was mostly shallow so the kids could explore, toss rocks, etc. Might be fun to bring an inflatable innertube and see if you can float down (may not be deep enough though).

The group campsite setup was strange, as the only place to park trailers/RVs was to parallel park them along the gravel road of the campground. Thankfully there's plenty of space and we had no trouble with one 32' motorhome and 3 trailers, plus 4 additional vehicles. There's so much room in the campsite itself but the only access is blocked purposefully by large boulders, which was strange.

The campground is in a north-south valley so we didn't see sun until after 9am and it was behind the ridge on the other side by 6pm or so, which made the temperature very comfortable, and it quickly cooled off in the late afternoon. No cooking grate on the smaller fire pit so bring your own if you want to cook over the fire. Only 1.5 hours from Park City/Kimball Junction. Cell service was spotty but managed to get a signal in most areas of the site.

Beautiful camp ground with a river running nearby. We had respectful, friendly neighboring campers as well. It was the perfect location to chill and forget about real life for a moment.

Camp Site was good, with good tree covering and a bathroom not far away. It was also cheaper than a lot of the surrounding campgrounds.

Bathrooms needed cleaning. We arrived Friday early evening and they could have used a cleaning then, they were not cleaned or restocked through Sunday afternoon.

Pretty, clean campgrounds! Fire pits are nice for little kids—thick, solid concrete with inner metal lining (no grates to go over the top, though). Plenty of dry kindling nearby. Had to drive a bit to get to good hiking trails—we highly recommend Nobletts Creek Trail. The road to Grandview Trail is VERY rocky and primitive; we might not go back to that one again because of the wear and tear on our car.

Nice campground close to a small river. The weekend was a bit loud near the group site but it calmed down Monday and Tuesday and was really nice and peaceful.
