What Guests Are Saying

The Iron Mine campground is praised for its beautiful, peaceful setting and well-maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and spacious sites that are easy to set up. Many families appreciate the campground's proximity to recreational activities and its picturesque surroundings. However, issues with noise from ATVs and lack of enforcement of rules detract from the experience, leading some visitors to express safety concerns and disappointment regarding site reservations.

This is a beautiful campground and we definitely plan to come back many times. BUT, SITE 001 is not for faint of heart. We are experienced campers with a 27 ft travel trailer and it took us almost an hour and a half to get our rig leveled. This site is not level and has many ruts that make it super difficult to set up our trailer. It is also right next to the road, so you will have to deal with traffic 4-6 ft from your front door.

Again, we definitely plan to return... BUT NOT IN SITE 001!!!

Great hikes nearby and a nice river to cool off in afterward!

Iron Mine never fails to satisfy. A short drive from the city brings a cool, shady vacation from the heat of the summer. The campsite is always clean, even without camp hosts. Hiking and fishing are nearby, with a couple of nice reservoirs you can get to within 15 minutes. NB: the burrs are terrible this year, probably a climate thing - but they do provide you and the dog with some 1:1 time ;)

Even though without the knowledge that it was a 6 mi drive to the campground from the highway sometimes a bit narrow and paved off and on pulling a 5th wheel it was the greatest find ever. I almost had my husband turn around because we had no idea what to expect at the end of this long road. Once in the campground we were supposed to stay in site #7 but it was very unlevel (could have been done but a lot of work) and putting out slides was questionable with trees. We found a non reserveable site #18 and decided to stay there instead. It was a great site next to clean bathrooms. We loved our 7 day stay. We rode bikes, walked all around and the river was right across the road from us. The only thing is there were a lot of cows all around the campground which was no bother until we left for a whole day and they decided to take over our site. They were laying everywhere and had chewed several items in camp and the steps of our RV but nothing serious. Just like little children they were on their best behavior when you were around! Definitely will come back if ever in this area!

Great campground. Close to the river and peaceful. It was a little tricky getting into site 15 with our 27 ft trailer but the site across from us was empty which helped.

Great campground. Well maintained and pretty quiet. Most sites have a slope so leveling a RV is a little tricky.

Iron Mine is an isolated campground, so I didn't feel like I was surrounded by people like in many other campgrounds around the state. My kids had an enjoyable time. We had fun fishing in the river and sitting around camp. There isn't much else to do in the area that I am aware of.

One of our favorite spots. Campsites are not too close together, lots of trees, and quiet.
