Maple Canyon

Beautiful location. The leaves were changing colors at the end of September when we went.

Great camping and climbing. Local thief stealing camping gear left at sites. Make sure all is hidden or stored if you take your vehicle from your site.

Camping was great

Took our church girl’s camp here. This was a great spot for rock climbing. However, the camp host was hardly ever there and even when he was there he pretended he didn’t see us even when we talked to him. It was really strange. One day our bathroom ran out of toilet paper but he was no where to be found so luckily we had a backup roll in our car. It wasn’t fixed until the following day when he cleaned the toilets. There was also someone walking around our tents in the middle of the night (which because of the camp host’s strange behavior we are thinking it was him).

LOVED the canyon as the road construction was nearing an end and the traffic was limited to just a few campers. It was a rare (uncrowded) paradise - never to come again. Treasured it.

Normally our experience at Maple Canyon is good. However, this year, due to the road construction , our experience was one of inconvenience and uncertainty. Not knowing when or if we would have to vacate our site in order to "mag" our campsite spur added to the daily stress of deciding what to do each day (leave the canyon or stay put at our campsite) based on road closures and the weather since driving on a wet "magged" road is not advisable.
The final result of the road construction remains to be seen. When dry , the road appears to be hard packed and dust free, but with rain it turns into a muddy quagmire especially in the steeper sections adjoining campsites 1-16. In fact , when wet, the road conditions actually become hazardous due to poor traction , especially when coming down the road.
In general the road construction was poorly timed, poorly managed and poorly completed , which ruined the planned vacation of many campers and climbers.

Excellent as always. A little logistically difficult with the road construction and it seemed there was poor communication as several other campers I spoke with were unaware of the construction and the requirement of us having to leave our campsite at 0800 which caused some confusion and frustration.

Very helpful camp host. Clean facilities, clean camp site, no noisy neighbors. Amazing place to camp and rock climb!

Maple Canyon is a beautiful destination, especially for sport climbers. Besides thousands of rock climbs, there are also wonderful hiking trails for the day hiker. The toilets are kept clean and well stocked with toilet paper.
