What Guests Are Saying
Lower Bowns offers a clean and well-maintained campground with a quiet, remote atmosphere, making it suitable for families and friends. The campground features a fishing hole, fire pits, and picnic tables, although access involves a steep, rutted road. While some campers noted interruptions from nearby dispersed camping, many enjoyed their overall experience and plan to return.

This ended up being a great, remote, QUIET site, but BEWARE the road down to this campground is steep, rutted and 3 mi long! And just to get to the entry road, Highway 12 climbs a steep mountain. Once you get there it's great, with a nice fishin hole (trout) and level lots with firepit/table. One clean pittoilet bathroom as well.

This was our first time staying at the campground! There's only 4 camps spots which is awesome! Most of people camping in area seemed respectful & courteous of each other! We didnt encounter any issues. We'll be back w/our entire family to camp out especially the grandkids lol. Unfortunately thunderstorm system surprised us outta nowhere so we were unable to fish. But we made the best of time w/great friends! Pack it in pack it out!

DON'T BOOK THE GROUP SITE. We arrived and found ourselves surrounded by dispursed campers. (1) They walked right through our campsite to access the restrooms within our group site reservation (that's right — you pay for the site, they use it for free). (2) They didn't leash their dogs (only people reserving campsites have to leash their dogs as we've learned, not dispursed campers), and their dogs came right into our site to beg for food, smell our kids, and try to get into our trailer. (3) They camped between us and the lake — there was no lake view without looking at other campers, and there was no lake access without passing through their area. And sadly, the dispursed campers were incredibly rude, even threatening our dog. These dispursed campers want all the benefits of a great campsite without having to pay for a reservation. It's a beautiful area, but BOOK A DIFFERENT CAMPSITE. We left the site after only being there for a few hours — it was not a good situation for our family.
