What Guests Are Saying

Arch Dam Campground is an excellent location for large groups, providing ample shaded spots for tents and a convenient cooking area. Its proximity to local services and recreational activities is a significant advantage, while the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the site are commendable. However, issues with overflowing dumpsters and limited restroom facilities for larger groups were noted, along with some water quality concerns.

We were in site 1 for 2 nights and 3 days. I will start with the good things. Arch Dam was a great location for our group of 50. We had 12 tents that were able to be in their own shady spot all over the site and our cooking area was in the shade the whole time which was so nice since it was so very hot during our stay. Arch Dam is 6-10 minutes to everywhere you want to be like the bottom of the dam/beginning of the river as well as Little Hole or Sunny Cove. It is also so close to the services available in Dutch John like raft rentals, ice, groceries and fuel. All of this was so helpful to the needs of our group. The road noise really wasn't noticeable at all and for the most part our site was extremely private. We had one or two cars wander in, but not continual traffic at all like you would have in a traditional campground loop. We were very grateful for the water directly in the site. It was so helpful to not have to carry water to the campground from another source near by. We did hook up a filter to the spigot and had no problems drinking or cooking with the water.

We recommend bringing a hose to spray off the tables and pop up canopies to shade the tables.

Now for the things that could be fixed or done a little better for our stay. The dumpsters were packed to the top and overflowing when we got there. We continued to notice more and more bags piling up in and around the dumpsters the entire stay we had there. I think because the dumpsters can be seen from the road, people come in there and drop off their garbage without actually staying there. The other thing we had issues with was the bathroom situation. These sites all cost the same per night, however site 1 only has one vault toilet, when the other two sites have 2 vault toilets each. Our group was coed and we were in need of more than one so we had to go to the expense to have port-a-potties dropped off during our stay, a $600 cost. T-Mobile was excellent, Verizon was not great.

Decent campground, the water spigots were far from camp and we had quite a few drifters come in and sit at our tables and use our bathrooms other than that the covering over the tables was very nice and the camp was clean and well maintained.

Had a blast with a big group at one of the group sites. Largely by ourselves the whole time. When shooting at the dutch john rifle range, hiked the rim, fished and kayaked at the lake, and had some good campfires.

The only hiccup we had was they had clearly been working on the water at the camp, and our water wasn't coming through clear. Turns out it was that way down at the dam too so maybe that's just normal. We didn't really use it.

Awesome campsite. Clean bathrooms, clean campsite. The Bowery was a great addition as well. Plenty of room for our group to spread out and the neighbors aren't too close as well.

The pavilion & fire pit are the great advantages of this campground. For a large group it’s perfect and then bathrooms were very clean. The garbages however were overflowing at the dumpster and didn’t look like they’d been picked up in a while.

Love going to Arch dam campground. My only complaint is the people who stayed there before us were pigs. They left trash everywhere. The group campgrounds are spacious. Bathrooms were well maintained.
