Other groups, including Native Americans and the Elk Mountain Mission of 1885, also traveled through and camped here.    The campground is surrounded by an open landscape of blackbrush and sagebrush hills with large rock formations in the distance. It is comprised of 10 campsites that can accommodate large RVs and trailers. There is no vegetation or other shade. Be prepared October to March for lows below freezing and from June to August for highs from 95 to above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.  Campsites 5 and 6 are reservable for equestrian users. Horse corrals, trailer parking and riding options are available.  The Mill Canyon Dinosaur Track site is a short walk from the campground with interpretive panels that describe the unique dinosaur tracks that can be seen. The Mill Canyon Dinosaur Bone Trail is also within close proximity to the campground. The trail showcases dinosaur bone still encased in rock.    Numerous Off Highway Vehicle and mountain bike trails are also within close proximity.

Large open grounds with just what you need and nothing more and price reflects that. Cell service was a lifesaver and worth the price alone. Keep in mind it was difficult to stake the tent due to the rocky ground and I was pretty much unable to do so. But I’m also new and maybe there’s a way to do it or a tool I was missing. Ground had rocks so you may have to clear them out for flat spot for the tent. We booked the equestrian space to be safe because the rest were first come first serve, and the picnic tables+pavilion provided cover should we have needed it. It did start to hail a slight bit. Grounds are pretty removed and no tree cover so incredible view of the stars. One bathroom I think. But we were the only people there for two nights so wasn’t an issue. Nice view of cows walking around in the morning. Don’t think there was a host around should we have needed anything but that wasn’t an issue. For the price we were very satisfied

It was quiet and felt like a gravel parking lot. But it served its purpose. Not used to zero lights. I got there late so it was hard to set up. But that’s on me
