Simpson Springs Campground is praised for its beautiful vistas, cleanliness, and convenient facilities, making it a great spot for groups and stargazing. The pavilion is well-equipped and offers shelter from the sun, though visitors should be prepared for windy conditions. However, issues like reserved sites being occupied, occasional maintenance concerns, and disturbances from noisy campers can detract from the experience.

We were the only ones there--we loved that! The campground is in the desert, and a few trees. The road is rough to get there--25 mi of it. But once there, it is an outstanding star-watching location--which is why we chose it in the first place. There is no water or electricity, so great for a short-term stay. Payment and scheduling was super easy on the website. Would recommend.

It was a nice campground, the wind was really bad and it was very dusty but you can’t control Mother Nature.

Simpson Springs Campground is very well maintained and a great location. We knew there were no hookups, but were surprised that there is potable water here. We will definitely be back to see the wild horses again.

The scenery was beautiful and the history was cool. My daughter and I stayed there after a day of target shooting on BLM land (there was no shooting in the campground). Getting there required some travel on a well-maintained dirt road. There were a decent amount of flies during the day which were a little annoying, but they left once we got a campfire going. We saw a rattlesnake in the campground, a little bit off the path under a tree. The rattlesnake was a highlight for me, but might concern some.

We arrived early when the previous couple was packing up. We set up our tent in our reserved spot after they left so no one would take it reserved spot. The site was excellent. Plenty of shade, good tent site, water was close, and the view was amazing.

The campground is fine overall. Not much privacy at sites given the desert landscape and lack of trees. Water was available. We didn’t use the bathrooms since we have a trailer.

A descent campground for how far out it is. Plan on bringing your own shade. One downfall is there is no host, so if you reserve online you may have to tell people to move out of your site. Fortunately the people who were in our site were understanding. Also when I reserved the map was not correct, site 2 and I believe 4 were flipped. The picture for site 2 was correct, but it wasn't across the road from our friends in site 3.
